Any love for this Belgian jazz rock unit? Or rock-influenced jazz unit as I think of them. Either way they are one of my favourites, an incredibly tight band. I think I could listen to just the rhythm section of Michel Hatzigeorgiou (bass) and Stéphane Galland (drums) playing by themselves all day long. Taking nothing away from Fabrizio Cassol on sax who adds equally.

I was moved to post this because I just found a very nice live video:

Shame it's only one tune but it gives a good idea of what they're about.

Cassol is the leader and main composer of the band... And his solo albumùs are stupendous.... the first two mix classical religious music with jazz-fusion.... amazing stuff...

The track they play in the YT is written by their former band member Pierre Van Dormael (recently passed away) when they were still a quartet called Nasa Na

I've seen manu times these guys rehearse publically in the Kaai (a club now closed) in the early 90's

I would love to see them play. The Live At The Kaai 31.3.1993 album is a good one!

I should look for some Cassol solo stuff. The only one I know is Variations On A Love Supreme, with Kris Defoort. That is a superb record.

my personal faves are:

the Invisible trilmogy (moon, Sun and Mother)

Cuklture Griot (with African guests) is phenomenal and Amazir is great as well

Among their early stuff: the debut and the Live Kaai 93 are my faves...
