As this Moody Blues album is widely regarded as their best effort and has actually the same number of votes thany Sgt Peppers in the poll that opposes these two albums, I'd like to know which track on this album is your favorite.

Personnaly, my favorite Moodies album is "In Search of the Lost Chord", but I have to admit the final three tracks from this album are fantastic. My pick would be "The Afternoon: Forever Afternoon (Tuesday?)".

Forever Afternoon because it's the kind of thing Los Beatles would have written if they'd stayed together. It sounds Beatle-lesque in tone and execution. Probably my favorite Moody song.

I'm actually not that big on "The Sun Set" as a tune but "Twilight Time" is my favourite track (or half of a track? I definitely think of them as two separate tunes though) on DOFP and I figure it needed some love here.

"Dawn Is A Feeling", "Forever Afternoon", "Twilight Time", and "Nights In White Satin". Voted for the first of these.

doing the '2nd best' vote here. Nights in White Satin is simply one of the greatest songs EVER.. much less best on the album

2nd best/favorite...  Dawn is a feeling.. if you ain't feelin' it.. you got no pulse, no heart man.

There's a cool Mellotron solo in Peak Hour. Also, the 'surfy' guitar solo from Hayward is killer.
Best track, toss-up between Tuesday Afternoon, and Nights In White Satin.
Amusingly enough, when I was in my early early teens, I thought the song referred to Knights on horseback dressed in white satin clothing instead of armour.......talk about a messed-up kid.......

Nights, a great song, timeless even if it has been played to death.
But as an album I've never been a fan, it pales in comparison to Sgt. Peppers.

Of course. This limitation was decided about 3 years ago after a poll "Genesis vs Yes".
Naturally, the trolls voted Genesis Big smile

The orchestral bits and the poetry bits keep this from being a great album.  The other parts do shine rather well...

I'm with you on the poetry but I rather like the orchestral bits. They sound great on the last remaster and they're good in a cheesy 1960's film soundtrack sort of way.

While I admit "Nights" is a beautiful track, it's lot its luster through decades of overplay, o I go with the Afternoon, but I also do love the sunset stuff

Of course I'm joking.
I remember a Yes fan who created about 100 fake accounts only to rate with 5 stars everything YES or any of the band members have done.
Personally the high rating made me waste my money on Jon Anderson's "Deseo".

But I don't like Genesis, I think everybody on this site knows it, so I'm used to joke on it.

Not a Genesis fan myself so I'm with you on that.  Wouldn't even mention them in the same breath as Yes.

I like all the songs on this album, but I'll vote for Evening, because it hasn't so many votes.

For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
