The debut of one of the first, if not the first, pronk bands. Specifically, their first album showed off a mix of avant-prog, post-punk, krautrock, and even a bit of dark and dour new wave, as if it were all smashed together in a supercollider.

What do you think of the result of this mad experiment?

This Heat were way ahead of their time, and the debut still sounds good today. Charles Hayward is still plugging away, making the occasional solo album, collaborating with all manner of musicians and doing scarily intense solo performances. A truly remarkable musician and a thoroughly decent chap as well!

I have rented their discography box, but I don't always feel like listening to the whole stuff (6 CD!) in one stand.
To say the truth, I prefer their second album (Deceit) for it is more accessible than the first one.

I've been trying to get into that album for several years, and it hasn't clicked yet.  On paper, it would seem the band is straight up my alley; thus, I'm inclined to give it a ninth, tenth, and even eleventh chance.

If you can't stand This Heat, get out of the kitchen.

I have both of their studio records - in certain moods, I love them, but in others - not so much. Still worth listening to, though!

I first heard them on "The Recommended Record Sampler" and was generally impressed. I never got around to purchasing their debut but now I'm curious.

Listened to it once and much preferred Deceit. Might try it again at some stage.

I like it but I feel the production really lets it's down.

Deceit is wonderful.
