Yeah, the video game... that's right. To be honest, I've never EVER played any of the games before, but I've recently purchased the two BLACK MAGES albums, and they rule.

Who's this? Well, to any fans of the video games, the guy who composed the music on the games has his own band... you getting my drift? Him and his band have done rock versions of the songs, and their friggin' awesome.

I only know of this because the keyboard player in my band loves this stuff, and has played me some of it. So I went on Ebay and bought both the albums...

Anyhow, anyone familiar with this band? Or any FF fans wanna discuss this?

Discuss.

Final Fantasy III is the best game ever.  I've heard bits of the original soundtrack and it was pretty awesome as well, I'd love to track down the full album someday.

Every time I hear Dancing Mad from Final Fantasy VI, I can't help but think of Tarkus.  Nobuo Uematsu must be a prog fan.

I love the ff games and the music!

Which brings me to my point, does anyone else find that in final fantasy 9, the song that plays when you get the invincible and are flying around on it in the world map, has a part in it that sounds an awful lot like the keyboard intro to watcher of the skies by genesis? almost exact. Check it out, you'll see.

It must be taken from it, cuz the invincible is a big air ship with an eye on the bottom of it! it makes sense anyway. seriously, check it out and you'll see what i mean.

Cuz I played ff 9 before i heard early genesis, and when i heard  watcher of the skies i was like "hey thats from ff 9!"

what about ff VII (one of my fave games ever)? there are a couple of fantastic themes, like the "battle" theme and the "airship" theme (very epic), not to mention the song with the choir in the final battle with bastard sephiroth (sorry for the spoiler)

I also love doom's and doom 2's soundtracks, i think they're the most perfect videogame music, they're the only fps I play with the music on, it helps the atmosphere a lot!

Did you know they're actually making Doom into a movie?

I have a CD of Final Fantasy music arranged for either piano or a full orchestra. The games are great, I've been playing them for years. I hope to be picking up both Black Mages CDs soon.

Hmm I've have not touched to any FF-game in 3 or 4 years. And I really should, I still consider VII as the best videogame ever, then Baldur's Gate -saga is a good #2. VIII is also an awesome experience
