This is one of the most obscure prog epics I've heard from a fairly obscure band. This album is generally considered pop drivel but most people neglect the first side is one of their best prog pieces ever. Absolutely fantastic and so underrated. Need to review it I think!

I can back-up this sentiment. Side 1 is terrific. I do prefer it to Atlantis.
I only have 3 LP's from them, the other being the consistently excellent To The World Of The Future.
Still, 'pop' oriented the second side is, is still a fun listen, full of solid musicianship and creativity.
There are some standout sections on side 1, without question.

Just a great band in general for their first few albums! I think my personal favourite is the self-titled debut. While they offered great progressive works, they also delivered superb pop that wasn't insulting to your intelligence.

Hmmm, I'm inspired to dig this album out again myself!

I totally forgot I had the debut LP with the Roger Dean cover !! ..... Great album.
Jerney is so hot - lucky Bert Ruiter.................(JK had to fall for a bassist )

To the World of the Future is my favourite.  Voice from Yonder was an All Hallow's Eve regular on air selection.

There's a tastefully mellow jam somewhere in the middle of side 1 that's just gorgeous, it should've gone on for longer than it does. And every time I hear the guitar lead it reminds me of La Bamba (Los Lobos) for some dumb reason

Absolutely! The band had two sides: a great progressive and a great pop side.
As for Gate To Infinity: it was HolyMoly that directed my attention to that one.
Before that, I thought there was no good album anymore after TTWOTF.

EDIT: just listened to the Gate To Infinity track again this night.
It's very enjoyable, and uniquely Earth & Fire.
