Yes, yes, 1972, great year for prog (Close to the Edge, Thick as a Brick, Trilogy, etc.), but Glam Rock was also in full bloom. So put on your spangled cape and mascara and tell me which you prefer?

Bowie, Bowie, Bowie. No one did it better more consistently. I listened all but Mott the Hoople almost non stop along with my prog favs back in the day. Great sitting around the pool playing Risk or Backgammon music. ------------- Thank you for supporting independently produced music |

| ^ It really does! I can't in my heart of hearts say I love it as much as Ziggy but The Slider, Ziggy and the first Roxy Music album are the Holy Trinity of 1972 glam as far as I'm concerned. |

I have to go for Slider also as I wore that "8-track" out in the day. So much so that the old Midland 8-track tape player ate it alive  .I always thought Mott the Hoople became more into the glam after the Dudes album. Bowie goes without saying. I do give honorary mention to Slade.... -------------

Hmm.. Roxy first, Mott the Hoople second and Ziggy third (just cos I think all the Bowie stuff has been too name checked & hyped.. yes he was truly inventive etc etc but no more than many, many others..) One of the first gigs I worked on was the (new) Gary Glitter (band) in 1980 (serious cringe..) actually spent most of the afternoon stood outside the venues giving tickets away (and that wasn't easy!) as max sales were only about 80-100 in 1500-2000 venues.. and that was well before his kiddy fiddling escapades came out! ------------- |
