Joe Walsh, for James Gang, some kickin' solo work, and Hotel California.

Joe Walsh blows Felder's fenders off.

Whoever is playing all the little lead fills in "New Kid in Town" is my favorite Eagles guitarist.  I honestly don't know.

But I just love the harmonies of Frey, Henley, and Meisner....for the me the Eagles are all about great songwriting and killer harmonies.  The great guitar work is icing on the cake.

Interesting, thanks...both were super musicians, no doubt.  And while I know Long Run was an awful time for them, I like that album more all the time.  Though I miss Randy.

Joe Walsh.  What was the other fellow's name?

Both very good players but Joe has certainly done far more over the years. Felder never really went on to do much  after he was booted out of the Eagles.
I was lucky enough to have seen Walsh with the James Gang in late 1970 at Indiana University in Bloomington IN....great show. Joe wrote some good songs with the Eagles but liked his solo things better.

With the wild success of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_the_Border" rel="nofollow - - One of These Nights , tension within the band grew, as Leadon grew increasingly frustrated by the band's direction away from his beloved country and bluegrass and toward album-oriented stadium rock. He famously quit the band in 1975 by pouring a beer over Glenn Frey's head. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernie_Leadon#cite_note-1" rel="nofollow - - Chris Hillman and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Perkins" rel="nofollow - - Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in the late 1980s. In 1993, he became a member of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Run_C%26W" rel="nofollow - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MCA_Records" rel="nofollow - - Rock and Roll Hall of Fame . All seven current and former Eagles members performed together on "Take It Easy," and " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hotel_California" rel="nofollow - Mirror.

He currently resides in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nashville" rel="nofollow - - Tennessee , where he is a session musician and producer.

Voted Don Felder, because the question was about the guitarist. Though Joe Walsh is the better (or more important) singer and songwriter.

And why do you think he's the better guitarist...?
Felder, other than with the Eagles and Hotel California,  has not really show us what he can do while Walsh has had many fine leads over the years on many albums.

btw...I do like Felder's work with the Eagles but I don't see him as being
'better' than Walsh.

Ahh, I don't know their solo works. I only know them with the Eagles. Both are great guitarists, but I like Felder's solo's a bit more. You posted some good examples above Thumbs Up

You might want to listen to Walsh's 'Smoker' album and his work with James Gang. He's a very versatile guitarist while Felder seems to have only worked with the Eagles for the most part and was basically  one dimensional...imo.

I'd rather listen to this before any Eagles album....one of my favorites from the old days.

And this one is also brilliant and these guys never received the acclaim they deserved imho....they used to play the same LA clubs that the Eagles later did before the Eagles became famous and from what I have read Glen Frey borrowed many ideas from the Speed Press.
