Hi, Skydogg here. New to the forum, old in years. I have been visiting the site for a while, but like to read the forums, but never joined, until today. As I was growing up in the 70's, (I was born in '58}, the music round the house was my sisters choice. The two albums I remember were Jethro Tull's Aqualung, & the compilation Nice Enough To Eat, which had on it King Crimson, Tull, Traffic, Blodwyn Pig etc. When I started to buy music myself, I listened to lot's of different types, my lifelong favourite being blues music. My cousin introduced me to the Allman Brothers Band, which had me looking at the composers of the music they played, which led me back in time. It's a path a lot have trodden before. I ended up listening to field hollers, Son House, Charley Patton, Robert Johnson, Blind Willie McTell etc. I found a lot of the prog I heard beyond me, too complicated. The last 20-25 years, I've been listening to more & more prog. It was kicked off by one song, Marilion's Grendel - a monster of a song. Since then, I've listened to lots. The band I reaaly like at the moment is Transatlantic, but that may be a bit of a cheat. With the musicians involved, it was always going to be good. There we go, a little, too much really, about me. One more thing. I spend a lot of time online. I broke my back in '99, & can't really do much. welcome to the forum man. Sorry to hear about your back, this is a great place to hang out. In between discovering all kinds of groovy stuff, there are a lot of nice people, a few interesting ones, and just enough trolls to keep things dramatic. Allman Brothers often had these great instrumentals, like "High Falls" from Win, Lose Or Draw. Welcome to the forum! |
