Cries of Redemption is a progressive rock band from Macon, Georgia, founded in 2007. Members are Sela - vocals, Sriracha - guitars, sound engeener, Jordi - bass and Ed Sylva - Guitar, Synthesizer, Drums sequencing. i suggested this band for Crossover due to their original mix of Symphonic prog, Dubstep, Cinematic music and Experimental rock, but also due to nice female vocals. In 2015, Cries of Redemption released s/t EP. Also, several singles are released earlier as digital releases as well. More than 19,000 likes on facebook, but they're not on RYM? Something doesn't quite add up there!! Less than 16 minutes of music from the four songs which make up the EP, so it's not much. Here's the facebook bio: "Cries Of Redemption was first founded by guitarist and songwriter Ed Silva in January 2007, in Savannah, GA primarily as a recording project. Mallory Carter was the former lead singer. In May, 2007, one EP titled "From A Drunken Heart" was recorded at Elevated Basement Studios in Savannah, GA and engineered by Kevin Rose. 10 copies were made for promotional purposes only. Offers were made to play songs on college radio stations, but due to how the band felt about the song they denied. COR went dormant but resurfaced in 2011 (again with Mallory Carter on vocals). One live show was played and the band was offered to be the supporting act for an established group in Brazil. They were unable to accept the offer. Early 2014 COR was joined by multi instrumentalist and virtuoso, Ken Ferretti from Rome, Italy. It soon became a "virtual band" focused strictly on recording. After auditioning 25 female vocalists COR found the perfect fit in Kayla Rice. They now have possible plans of going on tour Spring 2015." Seems like it's still a bit of a 'work in progress' from that, and I didn't hear any Symphonic Prog in their music. Sounds like a mix of Alternative & Gothic Rock with Heavy Prog/Prog Metal overtones to me, and Crossover is indeed where they might eventually find a home, but I'd be tempted to wait for more material from them before taking the suggestion any further.
 Nice vocals though, and there's definitely some potential here if the band remains a stable unit.  |
