Next up.  Poll #22.  One vote, top 2 vote getters move on to 2nd round. Vote for the album people.. not the group. If you don't know the album, ask, google, youtube it. Lots of great music here man...

First up... ohhh.. one of my alltime favorites. A top 10 album.  Like being chased through a haunted house as one famed reviewer put it...

From Germany..

AMON DUUL II  fire 'em up boys.. smoking lamp is lit!!!

Again from Poland ClapHeart (poor album poor group. they also were put again ADII in the band polls LOL)

SBB!!!

Another gem from Spain!!  Not the album I wanted to choose (El Patio) but went with Ivan with this.  Check it out! From Spain

Triana!!!

and next.. wow!  what an album.  Often lost in shuffle of great progrssive albums of 1969. From England..

East of Eden!! Clap

I know SBB but not that album and Triana I'm not sure if I've heard before or not. Will check them out. I'll probably go for Yeti and MP is important but most likely will not make it too far unfortunately.

I don't like that SBB album as much as their earlier ones. Triana I think was new to me; not bad but as far as Spain prog goes I prefer the more fusion-oriented groups. I like MP but not more than Yeti...Yeti it is.

SBB sounds really nice (never listened to their music before), but I like Triana better.
Voting for Triana.

be sure to check out El Patio... it would have been my album choice but deferred to the master of blue font himself who thought this was a better choice. Can't go wrong with either.. but my choice would have better LOL

I have a compilation cd with what is supposed to be their best work. Wasn't really impressed thus far, but listening to them again for the polls, they really knocked me out.
I wonder if I have their best work on the compilation cd. Oh well, El Patio then... Compilation cd's are most of the times not such a good idea.

oh hell no.  Compilations stink... Thumbs Down  hah... IMO the worth of an album is measured in the cuts that don't make it onto compilation albums.

It is only too true. Don't know why I ever bought a compilation instead of El Patio.
Well, they say that each man is a fool 5 minutes a day. Better not buying cd's during those 5 minutes LOL

Something went awry there. Really I figured that ADII would win this hands down but the competition was stringer than first thought. Anywho, having listened to Memento and then to SBB's first album I went with them.

Mickey .... first time I read "poor album poor group" I though gee,  that was a bit harsh. Then the penny dropped. Bit slowly, but it dropped.

Stronger, not stringer. Sheesh. Damn it, with my typos an edit function would be useful.

I think we all we have been shocked in the penny hadn't dropped ..eventually..

Yeti is not for everyone.. but man alive it does have a cadre of passionate fans... and is by far the most well known of the albums here.

the poor group poor album reference was to that SBB got matched up with ADII in the band polls last winter as well.  Great album.. hell. if I may be so bold.. there are 128 great albums here.  tastes and exposure dictate most votes though . Unlike the modern polls.. I suspect there is a lot more machine gun voting.. oh yeah.. I like that album.. heard that (english) group.. f**k the rest.. I'm voting for Supertramp that group LOLLOLWink

well they have been well and truly overrun by the Duulards .... hmmm let me rephrase that ... Duulists, but SBB still got my vote and having listened to all of Memento and now nearly all of SBB (2012) I am officially a fan. I've still got a bunch of these things to vote in but thus far SBB is for me the big find.

Ref slowness of dropping pennies ..... my other half, the lovely Ms Wombet is of the view that deep down inside I'm blonde.

A vote for the wonderful Mercator Projected, one of my favourite albums from the early prog era. Even if I don't think it will advance, I hope those who are not familiar with it will be encouraged to check it out.

Thumbs Up

and if Ivan let me pick El Patio LOL... would it have beat Yeti?  back in  the day I would have started a poll.

El Patio v. Hijos del Agobio but there is a reason I had a 4 year streak of polls I created that .. not a ONE.. made it to a second page.  I think the one that finally broke the streak with the one that asked which was your preferred means for putting Petrucci out of his misery

a) chainsaw
b) dull knife
c) tying him to a chair and making him listen to Willie Nelson on endless loops.

that one was a hit...  and got me a few more Admin reports as well (do believe that is another PA's record I owe.. never to be broken. Defintely will never be in the collab offender category LOL)

bread and circuses man.. that is what PA'rs love. Took me awhile to figure that out. The hell with meaningful discussion... Thumbs Up

love the East of Eden album..and voted for it.... but it is nice to see a great English album go down in defeat.. it doesn't happen often on this forum. Great to see Triana get the voting love!!
