tracks from same album, i'll have to pick In the court of the Crimson King, that crescendo is timeless and no other band has accomplished this before and after. BTW Also sad to say that many are not aware that Bill Bruford was not on this album

| I never heard about people thinking Bruford was on this album, and it's always been perfectly clear to me, but well. Still, I don't know if Bruford could have done a better job here, I believe the drums are perfect as they are for this album. Well, perhaps on Schizoid Man Bruford could have done some really cool things (and he actually did on later live releases), but on the other songs... no. |

I prefer the title track, and ever since I saw Children of Men in theaters it's held a (albeit very tiny) place in my heart. When I was in high school back in the early 70s, Epitaph hit me like no other song had ever done. I actually had a cassette tape of Epitaph, over and over, on both sides, and listened to it when I went to sleep at night. The majesty of the mellotron, Greg Lake's powerful voice and the frightening vision of the lyrics changed my life, for the better, I believe. And, I know this may be sacrilege, but I prefer Michael Giles' drumming to Bruford. Bruford is NO DOUBT the better drummer, technically, but Giles' drumming is so unique it is recognizable in an instant -- much the way John Bonham and Keith Moon created their own unique sound. BTW, does anyone here know anything about Michael Giles' solo work? ------------- PROGMATIC |

Both are timeless classics, but Epitaph puts in the emotional gut more than the title track personally (though the latter DOES pack one hell of a punch at it) ------------- Progrockdude |

The title track is timeless, but "Epitaph" always stood out to me. I'm biased toward the production of that particular track for some reason; it's so warm sounding, and I love the organ use. ------------- "A squid eating dough in a polyethylene bag is fast and bulbous. Got me?" |
