Box of Shamans bio from 10T records : Hailing out of Los Angeles, Box of Shamans is a new musical project featuring current members of last year’s breakout progressive rock band, Heliopolis, venturing into more adventurous and darker cinematic territory on their full- length debut release, “Belief and Illusion.” Box of Shamans is led by the multi-instrumental prowess of Michael Matier (Heliopolis, Ten Jinn) and the soaring voice and wordplay of Scott Jones (Heliopolis, Rocket Scientists), who have been writing together for many years. Virtuoso drummer Jerry Beller (Heliopolis, Mars Hollow) joins them for this release. Box of Shaman music cover a range of style, it's not your typical 70's symphonic, but i feel the symphonic arrangements and the Jon Anderson vocals throughout this cd. YES ------------- Music is the refuge of souls ulcerated by happiness. Emile M. Cioran |

You right. Their music not similar to 70's symphonic and as you said their music cover many of styles BUT IMO they aren't Eclectic and nearest to symphonic Prog than other sub genres. btw They are a Progressive Rock band and they deserve to have a page in PA.

That's the point. Even when doesn't fit perfectly in Symphonic (Hardly any band does): 1.- They are 100% and deserve to be in PA 2.- They have more than enough Symphonic elements 3.- They are closer to Symphonic than any other sub-genre 4.- The band doesn't deserve to be a ping pong ball moved from one genre to another So they have to be accepted.
