As much as I liked the Miasma album it doesn't come close to the Plague.

Same here, Miasma are wonderful but no chance against Thinking Plague, probably top 3 modern band for me.

After much Achillean angsting, I've decided to give it to Perils, since they are the underdog; everybody already knows how much of a crowning achievement of avant-prog In Extremis is.

Same here! I also have to admit I find Perils somewhat more enjoyable. Thinking Plague are undeniably great, but their music demands a lot from the listener.
