Eikthyrnir (USA) formed in 2014 and almost immediately released their first full length album "Under the Old Oak Tree". The album contained an eclectic mix of metal styles as well as a prominent Prog influence. The band played shows around their place of formation, Chicago, to support the album, often opening for bigger name acts (Starkill, Alestorm). In mid-2015, the band released their second full length album "Through the Magic Mirror Gate" and embarked on a 26 show tour across america to support it. This album was dubbed "70's Folk Metal" by review site folk-metal.nl, as it contains a heavy folk influence but crosses a vast array of progressive music genres.

Their musical style is hard to draw comparisons to, as they have the heavy sound of a Metal band, but the blend of folk and progressive influence is fairly unique as far as I know. The comparisons I've mostly heard are to Kansas, Jethro Tull, Uriah Heep, and Slayer...

I believe I've seen someone suggest this band in the past, however they were turned down due to lack of production value on their first album. The second album is of much higher production quality so perhaps the add would be reconsidered?

Thanks, but no need for a new thread, you could simply add a comment to the old thread here

I can't hear much prog and can't say that the production has improved much...
