Ah, I see. So is Mike Judge of King of the hill/Beavis & butthead fame apparently.

I don't think libertarians are necessarily any more wing nuts than neo liberals or neo-cons. It's just a different kind of nuttery.

^Please!! What are libertarians really? Just people who say " Leave me the F#@k alone and quite enforcing your rules on me" Although not as extreme as anarchist.

What pissed me off today is my @sshole Neighbour who has OCD and huge boundary issues using my fence to hang his wet carpet on. Now if I or the neighbour on the other side of him tried anything like that on his fence he'd go ballistic. Prick!

^ Bad neighbors are among the scourges of life, not even the rich can prevent these thoughtless scumbags from wrecking one's day, or week, or year.   Prick, indeed.

My main issue with Libertarians is there bizarre and contradictory view on abortion rights.   They hold personal liberty as the highest value and yet would actively oppose a woman's right to govern her own body.   And don't talk to me about Planned Parenthood, even some Repubs support their existence.

An unborn child is a human life to take that away would be denying that unborn child the right to live. As for planned Parenthood like a lot of other things it is at least partially government funded. I personally would have no problem if it were completely privatized, i feel the same way about the cdc so it has nothing to do with the emotions that planned Parenthood sometimes evoke in people

I was upset at the sight of about 5 cops in San Francisco attacking and pinning down a disabled homeless man with a prosthetic leg. He was reportedly acting 'strangely'

What made it worse is the more he appealed to cops to not hurt him and the more he questioned why they were doing it the worse the assault became.

F***ing appalling. They should all be shot.

..oh and just for a change the guy was black, although I'm sure the cops would have acted in the same way had he been white.

I took my daughter to the "Lab Quest" for blood work. The television was very loud and completely annoying. FOX 29 NEWS was on and observing people in the waiting room...I could clearly see their ridiculous fears and overall belief in what was being reported as if they were standing in front of GOD..Lol! If they hung around journalists.(as I do),..they might be singing a different tune. NOT everything on the news is false, but a great deal of it is hyped to put fear in people and make profit from violence. If someone commits murder, all I need to hear is that the person has been incarcerated. I don't need to know where they went to school, their upbringing, how they treated their friends in college, etc....so that society can make some exaggerated judgmental reflection on how the neighbour raises their kids, how the neighbour's kid treats their friends and son...and so on....as people often make moronic, out of bounds accusations of innocent people which revolve around a fringe ass news report that's merely been designed to scare everybody and as a result make money. That really pisses me off...Lol!

My wife and I were walking around the park tonight, and there were 3 boys, maybe 12 years old, playing basketball.

A pickup truck came down the street, 2 girls were inside, and 2 guys were sitting in the back. One of them started yelling "Kobe! Hey, Kobe!". One of the boys playing ball was black. He made a Kobe fadeaway move, playing along, having fun. Then, as they got further down the street, the douchebag in the truck yelled, "What are you doing in a white neighborhood?"

Jesus, he's just a kid. He certainly doesn't need to deal with that kind of bullsh*t.

This is the same park where, about a month ago, we passed by a couple of guys kicking out a large swastika in the dirt by one of the picnic benches. When we made our circuit around the park and saw what they had drawn out, we kicked it all to dust again. I'm constantly amazed that such ideas as those appeal to people anymore.

The new last.fm might not be fully operational yet to the point it's hard to judge it, but boy howdy is it confusing and I don't know why they have launched it already when it is obviously still in the beta stage.

It also upsets me that there's not much more use of the phrase "boy howdy" in everyday life.

Boy howdy is "boy howdy" a great phrase or what?

Reading "it ' s" (with the apostrophe) used as a possessive determiner for the god-knows-what time. For quite a while it's (a contraction!) been rather annoying, but now it is crossing the line into the "upsetting" territory.

Sue me for something so "petty".

Posted By: Atavachron
Date Posted: August 24 2015 at 16:38
I agree but I guess you can't blame someone for assuming a possessive apostrophe applies when indeed the "its" is possessive-- and you used it above as "it has" rather than "it is", which is also correct.   And don't get me started on the post-S apostrophe (one of my favorites).   One of those absurdities of English.

It's the "politically reactionary" part that's worth criticizing though, not being rural white working class. I'm pretty annoyed with how many left-wing arguments boil down to some variation of "look at how low-status our opponents are!" because how obviously hypocritical they are, yet I see them coming from even otherwise intelligent people.

The left and right both claim a moral high ground in everything they proclaim, but in truth bigotry and hypocrisy spans the political spectrum.

It's a newsflash to some that a socialist can be a sh*thead, but believe me they can. They really can. They can also be racist, self obsessed and mean.

As for rednecks, I don't know enough about that rather generalised demographic, but it appears that some people tend to band together KKK members and someone who owns a farm and just wants to feed their family together under that redneck banner, along with anyone who thinks free speech is under threat. The overall perception is of a toothless simpleton who screws his sister, drinks Mountain Dew and takes selfies with the confederate flag flapping around in the background.

Book it.. she'll be a regular fixture on the campaign trail trotted out by candidates as a shining example of good fashioned american values of bigotry, intolerance, and hate which they are so angry this country is drifting away from.

Should have hit her where it hurts.. in the pocket.

Yeah.. so did spilling my beer all over my paperwork.

It is just a snapshot of a much larger human tragedy that.. well.. seems oh so far away from the rest of us.  You get caught up in the mundane concerns of life... insulated by the relative security we have in our lives.. yet if one has a heart and sees pictures like that you really just want to crawl under a rock and insulate yourself and try to forget that while you have it lucky, good job, good life etc etc. there are a some that risk their lives to have a chance to have what we all do sake SO for granted.

Except in this case it's over equal marriage rights, not abortion or guns or something much more heated and genuinely debatable; gun rights I get and usually tolerate, but the right to marry is absolute, and arcane to think otherwise.

but this cuts to the heart of what really eats right wingers up alive.. judicial activism.  sh*t..  there is a reason why the GOP never failed to bring up 'defense of marriage' constitutional ammendments at the state level.... in battleground states.. during Presidential election years.

It turns out the base of bigots, and holier than thous and again taps into a primary theme of the right wing..  Federal laws trumping state laws.. and more pariculary.. the Supreme Court smacking down obvious, yet voter approved, laws that do violate the very nature of tolerance and freedom this goddamned country was suppposedly to represent.  Freedom not just for some.. but ALL.

bah...

Yeah, coming from a religious family I can appreciate her views, but that tweet hit me like a shotgun blast!

I can respect her views..  even if I think them stupid and ignorant.

Does God really give a f**k who you marry.. come on man...of course not..  the God I believe in has a sh*tload of other things to worry about. Perhaps like all the children who suffer resulting from broken or unhealthy traditional man v. woman marriages.

What I don't respect those who impose their beliefs on others.   So many other problems in the world Steve.. and this.. THIS issue is what those God fearing folk really think is important.  No wonder religion has such a bad name for many... . it does seem to have the abiity make one stupid. Take away ones god given right to think and use the grey matter.. not to mention the ability to feel empathy or compassion.

no doubt!!!!  I have no doubt that if I ever got stupid.. and got famous..  I would forever regret it.

I could see the ex, ie theSpawn of Satan, now in my mind .. telling Inside Edition about how I forced her to dress up as a man while I dressed up as a woman to see who could be picked up the quickest at a bar.

I'd be yelling at the TV that she was lying that it was HER idea.. but would anyone believe me? My reputation would forever be ruined.

bah....

The guy in the apartment just above mine is remodeling his property and I'm working at home with a terrible cold.

God, with that hammering I can't listen my thoughts.

Yes, this guys have taken all the carpets and the wife walks with high heels all day and night....Plus kids and a chihuahua  dog....And when they go to the pool, the kids play all around us

I have wall to wall carpets and over them my Persian rugs and still walk without shoes for comfort, my GF is slightly taller than me and when she stays she uses no heels, my mother (who lives with us) puts the TV somehow high (Hearing problems), but asked the neighbors and they don't listen it because the rooms have good acoustic protection.

Now with this remodeling they are really driving me crazy.

The front door neighbors are the perfect ones, I don't even know them (seen them twice in 2 years), much less listen them.

Topic ClosedWhy is Iron Maiden here classified as prog?

That forum topic was closed and without reason really. I happen to be very curious and interested in it, no pun intended. This thread was closed without any explanation the main question, atleast one could have directed me or others to the so-called previous topic discussion? I did a PA search and only found this: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/search_results_posts.asp?SearchID=20150914012949&KW=Iron+Maiden+prog" rel="nofollow - http://www.progarchives.com/forum/search_results_posts.asp?SearchID=20150914012949&KW=Iron+Maiden+prog
Closing a forum topic as it was done is not only disrespectful to me but also to others who have replied to that forum topic, Guldbamsen was great in dealing with these things, he would atleast divert and add the topic to the supposed "Iron Maiden" previous discussed matters. I am a nincompoop, this is not new, I am also the first to admit it, however closing a forum topic without re-direction is wrong and not very nice.

Awww Atavachron, not really, people should stop fighting and take things personally. I actually don't care if Iron Maiden are prog or not, really. It was a curious question and I certainly meant no pun with it. To be honest besides the fact I only heard a few songs from them which certainly is not enough for me to firmly asset my point of view about them in this regard, I honestly did not know this would be such a big deal, however knowing that and considering I cannot find a forum topic about this, I'd still post the same question.

Aww ok Atavachron, you are so sweet, I'll let it rest here. My curiosity took me to look at other sites tho' and the only reason was because I got no answer on here, I found answers (or not really) as follows:

The thread was closed because there have been many of its kind over the years, and they generally do not lead to anything but potential strife - especially since bands/artists cannot be deleted from the database except in very particular circumstances.

Anyway, as you also hang out on Progressive Ears, you may have seen the lengthy thread on IM's latest album, The Book of Souls, in the main forum (the one dedicated to prog). So, you see, we're not the only ones who think IM have a relation to prog.

Raff, I am a member on there although I clearly said I have only been on two forum topics so far. I do want to understand why you and so many others love and believe Iron Miaden is prog, not only because of the tag, I know little about them and what I know is not my thing, this said I probably only ever heard 5 songs so far and this is dismal really not enough for me to know that or understand that I like them.
Raff, I really did not mean to offend anyone and certainly not you. All I wanted was positive insight as to why one likes them so much.
