Just saw them Thursday night in Detroit.  Brilliant concert. Anyone else catch their shows on this tour?

No I didn't see the show but were they back to the two original dudes or just the one guy after their big split in the eighties?

Two original dudes plus a really great band - and musically still top-notch (I saw them in the late 1980s so can make the comparison).

Think the tour might be over or close to over, however.

had no clue they were active.. or even still alive. I loved them back in the day. I'd have hit them if they had come this way and I knew it Clap

Big fan of The Hurting here. It often gets overlooked in favour of their subsequent albums. Shame really.
Would've been fun to see them live. I always liked the 'Kermit' flavour to their vocals.

They played a lot of songs from The Hurting - four I think. Great selection of songs overall, a brilliant version of Head over Heels, and the female singer did a great job on vocals on the songs from The Seeds of Love.  The crowd was on its feet the entire show.
However, a lot of people still left before the encore, even though a simple process of elimination would have let them know that the encore was Shout. I repeat, what is it with American audiences and missing the traffic?

That sounds a tad bizarre to this Dane. I mean, they obviously dished out the dough to go see the gig.....and then leave before what many a times turns out to be the climax.

Oh, I'll walk out on any show that isn't working for me.  But people who were having a great time left because otherwise they might have to sit in traffic for an extra five minutes, what a tragedy.

I've been noticing this at every concert since we got back from Europe, and it never ceases to amaze me.  You've already invested the time, why not stick around for the best part?

I love that band. That's how intelligent pop-music should look like

go figure..  I remember it took me 3 hours to get across the river from RFK after a concert once... it is just part of the overall concert experience. As much as camping outside the venue all night to get prime tickets.

It's the same folks who leave at the end of the seventh inning...of a tied ballgame where both teams are in a pennant race.

You don't deserve a happy ending if you don't stick around for it.

The Hurting was what turned me on to them and is why I consider them to be prog.  I had to get the deluxe box set that came out.  Nice live video in the box which I used to have on VHS but degraded before I could copy it an got the box.  Fortunately most of my VHS tapes have been successfully DVD'd...

My Uncle Mark was the first person I knew to get a CD player and it was amongst his first discs...

I like them. I bet they are good live. I'll have to see if they plan to play here. I'd definitely go if I could.

I can only imagine what a great show it was - Did they play "Advice For The Young At Heart"? (from "Seeds of Love")

They sure did.  Here's the set list (my memory is lousy but I found this on line)
  1. Everybody Wants to Rule the World
  2. Secret World
  3. Sowing the Seeds of Love
  4. Pale Shelter
  5. Break It Down Again
  6. Everybody Loves a Happy Ending
  7. Change
  8. Mad World
  9. Memories Fade
  10. Woman in Chains
  11. Creep
  12. Advice for the Young at Heart
  13. Badman's Song
  14. Head Over Heels
  15. Shout

Badman's Song, Woman in Chains and Head over Heels were the highlights, but they played everything so well it's almost hard to single those out.

Wonderful playlist. I wish they would play Floating Down the River when I finally get a chance to see them. They were my first favorites and I've listened to everything they've released countless times, except the new covers (should catch up on those, it's been almost two years). Can't wait for the new album.

Sounds like a great show. Badman's Song is always my favorite, I can't imagine what an experience it would be like to see that one live.

Songs From The Big Chair is something of a 'classic' from that era. There was a brief feature in an issue of the 'Prog' magazine a while back.
I dunno what 'Prog' there is about it, but it's a decent album (my sis has it, listen to it from time to time) - no doubt 'helped' by a tasty line-up/tight musicianship and a very clear production, not to mention sensible composition.
What's the bet I'd get shot down in flames for starting something of a poll on Kajagoogoo...........like, does ANYONE dig what these guys do ????
