Just wanted to know why Electic Light Orchestra was not here? It has the classical elements that ELP has. It has the poppish sound with progressive aspiration like Queen. It has the conceptual side of A band like Alan Parson's Project. Etc. My point is, if you make Queen and Alan Parson's Project progressive bands, then a band like ELO certainly is. I'm wondering why Alan Parson's is included; I certainly wouldn't have included him. The inclusion of Queen is justified though, in my opinion; they parody prog, and we should be able to laugh about ourselves. -------------  BaldJean and I; I am the one in blue. |

Queen are overly pompous and theatralic, just for the heck of it. In that way they parody prog rock, driving it to an extreme. An excellent example is of course their famous "Bohemian Rhapsody"; the nonsensic lyrics, the lofty piano and singing style - if that is not parody, then I don't know what is. Other excellent examples are "Innuendo", "Bicycle" or "A Kind of Magic". ------------- BaldJean and I; I am the one in blue. |

With Queen , APP , Roxy in the PA, it is hard to imagine ELO not getting someday inclusion: their first two albums were prog and they were proggish for most of the 70's even though they were very popular with the disco crowd. 10CC is also another possible inclusion.
