Hmm, if it was two 1977 albums, then the JT album would have been songs for the wood.  I would have had trouble choosing, but this one is easy - Novella ALL the way

Ah, Minstrel in the gallery. An album I once really liked but not much anymore. Novella: Didn't like so much at first but it's grown to be my favourite among the archetypal Mk ii albums (SFAS is something different). Yeah had it been up against Songs from the wood, would have likely voted for JT!

This time the vote is Tull, but Novella is a fine album as well.

Two very good albums, though neither is quite their best.

The fact that Rolling Stone savaged Minstrel so severely tends to make me lean towards it (has there ever been a more useless periodical?), but overall, Novella shades it. Just.

Exactly my thoughts. Both are fine pieces of music, but I'll have to go with Tull on this one.

Yeah, enjoying it well enough, but as is often the case with good prog, I'll be needing more listens to get it all and let all the pieces fall together in my brain.

Love both albums. Went for Renaissance as the underdog, but this one is tough... love both equally.
