Prog Archives has been an invaluable resource for me for several years now and thought I'd finally go all the way and become a member. Thanks for having me.

I love music (who here doesn't, right?) and have quite the eclectic palate, but have always gravitated towards prog, even when I didn't realize there was such a distinction as progressive music. Early on I preferred the music of Yes, Genesis and Jethro Tull to most of what you'd hear on the radio back in the 70s and 80s, but wasn't aware those bands were a part of rock sub-genre that was called something other than...well, rock. During the era of hair metal, I found myself listening to Queenryche, Iron Maiden, and NWOBHM, while continuing to listen to my Yes and Jethro Tull albums. It wasn't until the age of the internet that I discovered this thing called progressive rock, and a whole new world of music opened up to me. Initially I discovered bands like Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree and Spock's Beard. Then I discovered Prog Archives and have since listened to many of the classics that are rated so highly on the site, and have found so many new favorite bands and albums. It's amazing the dearth of music you're exposed to if you limit yourself to the radio.

Prog Archives, thanks for being there for a longtime music fan like myself. And forum, thanks for the stimulating discussions about the music we all love.

Won't you take me down, to the underground
