Continuing from the earlier poll "Third Time's A Charm", vote for your favourite album that happens to be the fourth studio album by some of prog's biggest bands.

Of these I'll cast the inaugural vote for Moonmadness.

It will be between Camel, Jethro Tull and Rush but I'll have to think on it.

a lot of great albums, I haven't listened to Gentle Giant in quite a while. I've always loved Octopus.

Great list of fantastic albums. Instead of voting for one, I'd rather listen to them all.

I regard Brain Salad Surgery as ELP's fifth album. Yes, Pictures at an Exhibition is live, but it contains original music not found on ELP, Tarkus, or Trilogy.

I voted for 2112.

For once I can pass up Yes or Tull.  In this case the vote must go to Moonmadness.

Foxtrot was a signifying statement of a newly organized group's sophomore effort. Moonmadness, though, excelled in every phase of the songwriting for an already well-established unit. Hate to vote against the former but am rather fond of the latter. Call it moon madness.

Fragile easily...

would have gone for BSS but it committed the same offense Pawn Hearts did...  took the master suite just a bit too far and blew it by the end.

none of the others really compare at all to Fragile otherwise.. so of course Fragile is close to bringing up the bottom.. to what.. a Camel album and sophorific Genesis album. Whatever...

Since it looks like the vocabulary police are already on patrol... I believe you mean "epithet". Wink

On an unrelated note, it's pretty funny having all these old threads get resurrected and seeing just how much (or little) tastes change over time. When I pulled this one open and saw the mere measly 7 votes for Fragile I almost said out loud "how the hell did you people vote that Camel album above Fragile?!?", then I sort of figured "Oh, maybe back in the day I decided to vote for Gentle Giant instead..." Then I went back to my original post...

Oh well. Tongue

But then there have been other old polls I've pulled open in the past week where there's been 15-20 albums listed out and I've thought "oh man, X album is totally my first choice, then Y, followed by Z..." and so on down the line, only to find out that I posted a comment on page 1 back in February 2016 ranking the options in the exact same order! LOL

Foxtrot! My favourite album - so at least I'm consistent. However, what an excellent poll and a great selection albums. Some of my all-time greats here! It shows you that if you allow groups to grow in time - masterpieces result. What a shame the modern music business demands these standards with just the first one or two albums! Sigh......

Let's see

1 Foxtrot: IMHO the best album ever released
2 BSS
3 Aqualung
5 Fragile
2112
5 Moonmadness

Can't care less for the rest
