How can you get any better than this?

"Reasons For Waiting"

What a sight for my eyes to see you in sleep.
Could've startled the sunrise hearing you weep.
You're not seen, you're not heard
but I stand by my word.
Came a thousand miles
just to catch you while you're smiling.

What a day for laughter and walking at night.
Me following after, your hand holding tight.
And the memory stays clear with the song that you hear.
If I can but make the words awake the feeling.

What a reason for waiting and dreaming of dreams.
So here's hoping you've faith in impossible schemes,
that are born in the sigh of the wind blowing by
while the dimming light brings the end to a night of loving.

For being with a lady, I would agree with Micky except Reasons for Waiting would also do the trick

This group of bands show up regularly on polls (with few variations).
I voted for Tull which I usually do from this crowd.

I was gonna do one from each of the big six, but couldn't find a good Pink Floyd love song, so I threw in VDGG and Camel

Reasons for Waiting from this batch (because my wife indeed loves the song, as well as Aqualung's "Wond'ring Aloud"). Of course, I consider The Moody Blues prog, so there are bunches of great love songs from them. Tested and true.

"All complete in sight of seeds of life with you"... And You and I is for me, perhaps the greatest love song ever... and a wonderful song for a wedding... unfortunatley ladies may not so easily agree, nor would people invited to a wedding. Oh, and for a Pink Floyd love song, I really love "Coming back to Life", though it isn't from the classic era. From the classic era... perhaps "Wish you Were Here"... though I understand it wasn't written as a love song, perhaps we could give it that meaning... And recently I read that Echoes was about the empathy between two people... so one could stretch that idea a lot and see it as a love song (I always thought of it as the memory of a long lost loved person - not necessarily on a romantic way, but perhaps family or friend or whatever)... so in the end, for Pink Floyd, I would stick with "Coming back to life".

Am I allowed to vent on ProgArchives?  The topic as something to do with the second word in this thread's title. Wink

I'm rather introverted so doing ^that^ did get a little off my chest.  Thanks everyone for helping! Big smile

PS, I voted for And You And I.

More venting Ermm, but what I'm experiencing isn't exactly Heart or even Broken Heart(s are for a****les -FZ).  It'd take me a paragraph to explain.

Ok, good. I'm done.

How about Pigs on the Wing, One of These Days or Young Lust Tongue?

Voted for Yes.

I'd have added:

The Shepherd Song - Strawbs
Moths - Tull
Wond'ring Aloud - Tull

They have a few, but none of them are epics that can match up to these ones. Stay I find a good love song, and Summer '68, and if you think about it, Bike

Some very good ones here.

The Cinema Show = And You and I > Formentera Lady > Lost > Lady Fantasy

Voted for The Cinema Show in this poll because this song contains the best lyrics ever written about sex.

Trilogy, for me it's the most honest one. I didn't interpret the subject to mean which song would shed clothes better or faster, but rather which tells the story of love best. "And you And I" is excellent but it's too esoteric in that regard.

I've tried to mend
The love that ended long ago
Although we still pretend
Our love is surely coming to an end
Don't waste the time you've got to love again

Thank you for supporting independently produced music

Once again, "Coming Back to Life". And for me it's as good as anything else they have achieved... though perhaps not as epic, but beautiful indeed.

I don't know what do you mean by 'Love Song', but I fell in love when I heard Close To The Edge.

Give this music a body and I will marry it!

Oh yeah, another very beautiful (and sad) love song that could have been added is "Turn of the Century", by Yes.

Sad? How is that a sad song?

King Crimson - Heartbeat would have been my choice.

Since Counting Out Time was overlooked, I'll go with Cinema Show. If pre-Prog Genesis could count, I'd say how about She's Beautiful? And You and I was my runner up choice.
