Pink Floyd, Rush and Eloy did some great stuff in '77, can't choose...

Of these, Schulze's Mirage and National Health (I chose Mirage, and it is a great album).

I think myy real favourite of the year though would be Franco Leprino's Integrati ... Disintegrati (no album I like more than it).

Also worthy of note is Univers Zero's 1313 (my favourite UZ album and sad it missed the list), Archaia, Stormy Six's L'apprendista, Clivage's Regina Astris, John Greaves' Kew Rhone, Island' Pictures, Goblin's Suspiria, Dionne-Bregent's Dieux, Wkahevitche's Nagual, Resident's Fingerprince etc.

Great year for my tastes, but then so is most every year.

Hmm, still not cool enough to vote yet.  I admit I've only listened to 4 of these, but I'm gonna have to go with Kansas over Pink Floyd, Yes, and Rush.  Animals is a great album, but I do think Point of Know Return is nearly perfect.  You'd think I'd choose Yes, but Going For The One isn't one of my favorites ("Awaken" is a masterpiece, but I find the rest of the album to just be okay.)

Speaking of Point of Know Return, does anyone else think that "Lightning's Hand" sounds like a proto-Iron Maiden song?

Also, where's Grand Illusion by Styx!  Or Out of the Blue by Electric Light Orchestra!  :P

Animal is the most progressive sound from Pink Floyd and my personal best to be honest but if we talking about the whole year my vote goes to Eloy - Ocean Wink

I voted for National Health's wonderful debut, but worth noting that the group side of ELP's Works Vol. 1 would beat most of these albums into a cocked hat!

I love Animals, Mirage and the National Health debut just about the same, but I decided to give Schulze some love.
Mirage is such an elegant album. Always reminds me of the domestic flight terminal in Kastrup. It feels like walking through this white shiny sail sculptured corridor. When the sun is out it's like walking in another dimension - illumination beyond belief.
Anyway I always play Mirage when I'm passing through this wonderful piece of architecture. Utzon had his moments of brilliance.

Songs From The Wood.........one of my all time favorite Tull albums....though Nat Health and Farewell To Kings....are a close second.. Always thought Animals was an overrated album and some what tedious to listen to.

A real toughie for me, this one.

I rate Songs From The Wood, Animals, and Going for the One as classic five star albums.

Given that the latter was my proper introduction to prog, that.
