Heavy Horses probably, but a weakish year compared to most of that decade.

Have to go UK just over Rush, Jose Cid and Klaus Schulze.  That 1st UK album was a great example of what would happen if you threw 2 prog rockers with 2 prog jazzers and let them fight it out LOL

I'll have to give JT the vote... but DAMN Hemispheres is a GREAT album.

Great works from SBB and José Cid as well.

None of these. Spectral Mornings - Steve Hackett. Hard to beat. Possibly his best work.

Hemispheres followed by Anabelas. UK, Weidorje and National Health come next.

One regret: Indexi's Modra Rijeka should have topped the cake.

never thought a 1978 albums poll could be so hard to choose LOL

Rush, UK, Jethro Tull, Jose Cid and Dixie Dregs - just can't pick one Question

Things really started to fall apart that year...and Rush started to exploit the vacuum left by the major bands along with the rise of NWOBHM.  One of the last great Canterbury albums was released and later that year Dave Stewart gave up as another National Health tour fell through...

I was actually surprised it even made the top 10

X and Anabelas are the best albums listed here imo. Could never get into Hemispheres and Heavy Ponies.
In the end I voted for the underdog. X is one of the seminal progressive electronic albums - one that stretches far beyond the genre itself and has since it's release garnered fans from all over the musical map.
