I'm looking for something similar to MO, mainly instrumental, with influences of celtic music and folk, etc. Any suggestions? ------------- I shook my head and smiled a whisper knowing all about the place |

maybe Anthony Phillips, 1984 or Tarka with Harry Williamson. There is a group called Celestial that has a piece on it that I often segue with Mike Oldfield. Mike was on SPACE PIRATE RADIO during his 5 Miles Out U.S. tour. I will be posting the interview this year on my Melting Watchtowre page, if anyone is interested. There is only one Mike Oldfield, solo or on other cats' and kittens' tunes Have you listened to his sister Sally's later stuff? His brother Terry's output is a mixed bag. cheers!

Oldfield has many followers, from many of his eras Colin Masson's "Isle of Eight" could pass for an Oldfield album Ken Baird is clearly influenced by Oldfield and his sister Sally Sally Oldfield's early stuff is a bit like her brother Engel from Spain influenced by Maggie Reilly era keyboardist from the country of Georgia "Laozi" I concur about Alan Stivell; it's not the same but in the spirit Dan Ar Braz's first album "Douar Nevez" could work Seven Reizh EliphasZ "La Royaume des Poussieres" has a 19 minute track that is very Oldfield like some of FLAMING BESS' early stuff is like a more rhythmic Oldfield Oldfield himself went very Alan Parsons for parts of albums like the song oriented side of "Islands", so Alan Parsons sounds like him, although sometimes it's more that Oldfield sounds like Parsons Some of the more medieval Dead Can Dance albums The first couple of Sky albums Quaterna Requiem Sagrado Coracao da Terra Paul Brett's albums Interlife and Eclipse Japanese band Asturias' first couple of albums Passport's song Ataraxia is very Oldfield souinding Hostsonaten "Springsong" Groovector "Ultramarine" Sebastian Hardie's instrumental stuff some of early Jade Warriot |

My instant thought was Bo Hansson - a Swedish multiinstrumentalist from
the day, who released some Tubular Bells-esque material. You might like him. The follow-up of his debut I posted above called "Magician's Hat" is also dead good! |

I was thinking of them but mostly for the song "Closer to your Heart" from Macalla, which could have been the sequel to Moonlight Shadow!
