Rand and Kant ar bouth synonymus words for edge on Norwegian or tipp of a cliff (på randen av stupet/på kanten av stupet = on the edge of the cliff). Two influentual people Rand on US economical philosophy on republican d capitalistic side and Kant, the primal trancendental philosopher. Kants influence is massive, Rands is there but not at that level ( realisticly).
Kant defined the nebula, Rand did not.

Rand was hardly an actual philosopher and from what I understand internally inconsistent and a horrid writer to boot.

i had a precentation on Kants thoughts on categorical imperativ and hypothetic imperative, if wee are hungry we can stil prelonge our wait to get food to fill our hunger, if food is gained by rightfull means, rightfull means is not stealing, if so then if we then made a law that made it leagal for all to take as much food as they could carry, it would cause mayham, and dishonesty, same for all actions thast violates universal moral laws, that cause distrubtion in general fluidity of goodness. Any action witch violates reason is against the categoric imperative cause it violates order.

Kant. Rand was a douche bag.

I think Kant could kick the crap out of Rand.....he was scrappy and tough and had a mean right from what I have heard.

Google returned 59,700 results containing Immanuel Kant and edgy. Ayn Rand had 101,000 so clearly Ayn Rand.

Kant's categorical imperative - a most insightful theory that attempts to prove the existence of a universal morality.....a priori principles that link mind and matter.....the proof of the existence of God!

Ann Rand's objectivism - a gateway to PC culture.....the idea that everyone's subjective perception provides their own insight into the universal morality......a priori principles cannot exist without mind and body first interpreting "reality"......the proof that all men/women are Gods!

OK, OK, a twisted oversimplification.....I respect Ann Rand, but her ideas have never had the widespread influence that Kant's have had.

Both were douchebags. Or at least one was a douch bag who inspired douchebags and the other one inspired pretentious douchebags. Anyway, at least Anthem is a good short novel so unpredictably I'll go with Rand. However, I dislike most Randians including Speakers of the House and $$$t

I wonder if there are prog musician or band who are influenced by Kant and that is heard in the music, either in lyrics or concept.

Only read some Kant and not really sure  I can form an opinion, never really having been into philosophy, but it's hard to find someone worse than Rand. In terms of actual writing, her views then add her inconsistencies, her very obvious gaping logical holes...she's just garbage in all regards
