Five more songs that are frequently cited (not necessarily by me, mind you) as sub-par, inexcusable, uninspired, awful, etc.

I've heard people knock Moonchild but not the others. Maybe they suffer a bit from the quality of the other tracks on their albums, but A Venture, Time Table and Cinderella Man are great songs.

Moonchild for me. I actually consider it a 5 star track, and the highlight off of Court.

Time Table for me. The song part of Moonchild is really great too, but the atmospheric or improvisational or whatever part that follows is a bit too much. By the way, listening to this song part of Moonchild the other day, I got the impression that it's a song that if shown to someone who doesn't know the band might have a hard time identifying from which decade it comes... it doesn't really sound so dated to me, nor does it have much of the clichés of the 60's or 70's music... or perhaps I have just been listening too much to older music and I just don't hear the dated quality of it anymore...

Time Table! Gorgeous song.

I am currently digging:

Hawkwind, Rare Bird, Gong, Tangerine Dream, Khan, Iron Butterfly, and all things canterbury and hard-psych. I also love jazz!

Please drop me a message with album suggestions.

"A Venture" is terrific--not weak at all, just short. Tongue "Seamus" is the closest thing here to what I'd consider a "weak" track, but it's just meant as a humorous throwaway.

I really like all these songs actually LOL, but here's my order from worst to best IMHO.

1. Yes - A Venture
2. Rush - Cinderella Man
3. King Crimson - Moonchild
4. Genesis - Time Table (started to warm up to this song in particular, lately)
5. Pink Floyd - Seamus

I don't understand why so many people dislike A Venture.

The Yes Album is my favourite of theirs and although the first and last tracks on both sides are the strongest, I certainly prefer A Venture to The Clap, which doesn't have anything going for it except demonstrating that Steve Howe is a virtuoso guitarist (which we knew anyway).

"Moonchild" is the best track on "In the Court of the Crimson King"; anyone who considers it to be weak just does not understand it. Certif1ed and I both independently commented on Moonchild in detail and interestingly came to the same result, a result that anyone with open ears and open mind should arrive at as well.

also neither "Time Table" nor "Seamus" nor "A Venture" are weak at all. some people really have strange notions

I can understand why people like 'Timetable' but it really sounds like filler.  Remember the C90 tapes?  When I first borrowed the album off a friend, I left it off so I could get the rest of the album on to one side of precious tape.  The Rush 'effort' has to be the poorest one here....

a filler? to quote one of my favorite books: "imperial fiddlestick"! "Time Table" is anything but a filler. I really love the lyrics and the two-part opening

Time Table is very underrated (probably Genesis 3rd most underrated track after Blood On The Rooftops and Man Of Our Times) so that gets my vote.
