The year I discovered/joined PA. (The year I came out of Rip Van Winkle hibernation.) I had NO idea all this music was A) being made around the planet while I was a prog fan and B) was STILL being made by artists in the 21st Century--some of whom were not even born when Fripp, Emerson, Wyatt, Barrett, Banks, Latimer, and Stewart were producing their "classic" albums.

My second ten from this, a relatively weak year, include:

MOON SAFARI Blomljud

CYNIC Traced in Air

PINEAPPLE THIEF Tightly Unwound

WILLOWGLASS Book of Hours

VOTUM Time Must Have a Stop

SYRINX Qualia

JEAVESTONE Spices, Species and Poetry Patrol

DARK SHOT One Shot

SOMA PLANET Bholenath

PANZERBALLETT Starke Stücke

there's five albums here I haven't heard at all but love Dungen 4 from beginning to end so voted for it anyway. + that Rational Diet-album is a little uneven but some tunes are pretty amazing.

yeah Dungen 4 rules... but having voted twice already for Dungen.. time to spread the love.

To.. one of my favorite modern groups that made their debut this year. I guess it was 2008 when I was contacted by a really sweet musician (Dan) who wanted me to evaluate his band, and album for addition here.  I really loved it. No it wasn't CTTE but it was A fresh, energetic fun almost childlike album, well.. I think they were frickin kids at the time LOLHeart

One of my proudest band additions, as they have moved on from the kickass debut to bigger and better progressive things and some really great albums.

Those would have been strong contenders - especially Elixirs.

I know have half of those on the list, but can't choose between Dungen and At Work. Ian mentioned some other faves of mine, and the only other ones I can think of to add are Birds And Buildings' Bantom to Behemoth, Jean Louis' Jean Louis and Greaves Verlaine by John Greaves

I have the other 2 Jean Louis albums, which are quite excellent, but not that one, for some reason B&B have never connected with me, not sure why.

9? LOL

must be a reason why I don't know them (probably a subgenre I'm not even into)
I'll check some of them out on youtube, see what they sound like, the least I can do.
