Great Poll, Moroccan Roll gets my vote. Both are five star albums but Moroccan Roll is in my top 3 fav. albums of all time

Moroccan Roll for me, too. I think my favourite off of Unorthodox Behaviour would have to be Born Ugly, but I find their sophomore album to be more consistently strong. ------------- when i was a kid a doller was worth ten dollers - now a doller couldnt even buy you fifty cents |

Moroccan Roll it is; only Livestock tops it IMHO. The first 3 Brand X albums are the greatest fusion albums ever made. John Goodsall (who many are unaware played under alias with Atomic Rooster!) has the speed of McLaughlin and DiMeola but with more emotion and rock elements. Percy Jones is hands-down my favorite bass player ever, and back in the day Phil Collins was one heckuva drummer (Just listen to Nuclear Burn off their debut). And Robin Lumley's keyboards are right up there as well -- much preferred him to Peter Robinson and others that followed. (I'm not leaving out Morris Pert, it's just that the above four are so musically superior to 99% of their peers it is mindboggling.) ------------- PROGMATIC |

I guess I'm one of the few who prefers the debut...and by quite a vast margin. I really dig Morrocan Roll but it lacks the raw punch and unadulterated joy that literally zooms through Unorthodox Behaviour. It also happens to feature Phil's absolute finest drum work ever. That being said, I rather enjoy Morris Pert's exotic percussion splashes and would've loved to hear them incorporated in the debut. ------------- “The Guide says there is an art to flying or rather a knack. Jones is INSANE on the bass. You have to see him in Soft Machine. His style doesn't really fit the music but just a joy watching him play. PhilCo is on fire on Nuclear Burn. No doubt, one of my favourite drummers for sure. Lumley slightly over Robinson. |

Tough, tough choice. The only reason I'll vote is to vote for Moroccan Roll, and that's because it was the first Brand X album I ever heard. Got Morroccan Roll when on sale at Woolworths! (Long ago). Best thing I ever got from there... I found it astonishingly good. Probably because it is... ;) |
