^I don't know man.  When I look generally at the overall quality of the teen experience these days, I'd have to say we were lucky enough to have latched onto the tail end of a fun period for teens.  That photo brings back plenty of memories, all of them pretty damn good ones to me.

while I tend to agree Jim. It was a great time to be young, and we didn't have to worry about getting sent to Vietnam.

However I was a big fan.. and umm.. admirer of big hair... the women back in the day had that natural beauty thing going on. Then there were the cars... ohhhh..

so yeah... advantage 1969... LOL

All those photographs make me think of François Truffaut and his movie : L'homme qui aimait les femmes.    "Les jambes des femmes sont des compas qui arpentent le globe terrestre en tous sens, lui donnant son équilibre et son harmonie.

"The women legs are compasses which measure the globe in all directions, giving it its balance and its harmony"

In spite I consider Soft Machine II a great album, I give my vote to The Moody Blues  "To Our Children's Children's Children" ... in my opinion one of best MB albums .

Soft Machine by quite a large margin.

Love early Moodies but always thought this one was a little too cutesy and contained weaker material than the the ones released before and just after. Volume Two however is a silly little masterpiece.

Wow, what a showdown. I'm not familiar enough with either one to vote but to me one is proto prog(by a band who arguably never quite became full blown prog)and the other one is an early prog/canterbury album. I do think that ToCCC is one of the very best if not THE best MB album though.

Based on my few listens of this MB album I would say nothing on there is weaker than "the tortoise and the hare," "and the tide rushes in,"or "don't you feel small." The only song on ToCC that I kind of don't like is the one that was ironically released as a single which was "watching and waiting." Nothing I would call cutesy on that album except maybe "eyes of a child" and even that I don't personally consider cutesy but can see how someone would. If you want cutesy MB I would say listen to "nice to be hear" from EGBDF. Other than that I don't hear much "cutesy" in their music. Of course, as they say, ymmv.

TOCCC without a second thought. The truth is that I don't like Soft Machine, so...
