Hi folks

Riverside's ambient collection Eye Of The Soundscape arrived on my mat yesterday, so here's a review of my thoughts:

A nice alternative to their traditional sound and a poignant holding position pending new music next year.

I'll be getting it.

Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

I'm not a fan of it. Would have been easier to digest as a EP, rather than a full length LP of ambient material. I was hoping for some traditional Riverside along with ambient stuff.

Sorry to me it seems a bit pointless although it is extremely well done for what it is. However I would have preferred something heavier with 'widdly' keyboards (ie ELP,Wakeman etc) .Instead this feels like a bit of cop out. However I'm glad the band still exists and look forward to when they back to something more like themselves in the future. I realise this is just a tidy over exercise although I do believe they have missed an opportunity.

I do wonder where this music influence is coming from, seems a lot of bands are taking this ambient-dark-moody-electronicky, what I call non analog (missing or minimal guitar/bass/drums/vocals) approach.

Anybody listen to the new Mariusz project, Meller Golyzniak Duda, yet?
