Computer Mind is an exciting new musical collective by writer/bassist Mike van den Heuvel that brings you a Progressive Rock/Metal opera with a message: “The Aspie Project”. The project uses the carefully selected vocal talents of Marcela Bovio (Stream of Passion), Damian Wilson (Threshold/Star One), Marjan Welman (Autumn) and Wilmer Waarbroek; with special guest star Arjen Anthony Lucassen (Ayreon).

Apart from being an incredible musical experience, “The Aspie Project” hopes to change the listener’s perspective on autism by taking us on a heart wrenching journey through the often chaotic inner world of a person with Asperger and their friends and family who struggle to understand them. From the devastating diagnosis (Childhood) to the failed marriage of helpless parents (Divorce); from the difficulty of making friends to the complications of maintaining a love life (Relationship), the tale ends with an encouraging insight: being an ‘aspie’ doesn’t have to be bad (Gift Disguised as a Dilemma).

Live cellos and violins combined with the emotional piano arrangements of Koen van Amerongen conjure both dreamy and dark atmospheres, while the driving drums of David Mulder and the heavy guitars by Edwin Kraft van Ermel and Berry Lakerveld provide Zappa-esque contrasts; musically mirroring the emotional whirlpool that can be the mind of an ‘aspie’.

Producer Stijn Donders strove to create an honest and transparent sound, delicately balancing all the songs’ true emotions, as extreme as they can be.

^ Yes Thanos - it was released back in April of last year. It was funded by a successful indiegogo campaign and eventually self-released after a few hiccups along the way:  https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/computer-mind-the-aspie-project--2#/" rel="nofollow - https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/computer-mind-the-aspie-project--2#/ .

As Louis said above, the facebook page is no longer available and there is no website, but there was a review posted just a few days after the album was finally shipped:  https://sinfoniadeideias.wordpress.com/2016/04/13/resenha-the-aspie-project-computer-mind/" rel="nofollow - https://sinfoniadeideias.wordpress.com/2016/04/13/resenha-the-aspie-project-computer-mind/ .

It's listed on  https://www.discogs.com/Computer-Mind-The-Aspie-Project/release/8401444" rel="nofollow - discogs  and  https://rateyourmusic.com/artist/computer-mind" rel="nofollow - RYM .

^ Thanks David but no sign of album samples other than one and no presence anywhere on the web. Till we have a few more samples and some evidence that this is widely available, I don't think we can proceed.

Mike does have a website which is dedicated to the Computer Mind project here:  http://mrvandenheuvelmusic.wixsite.com/mvdh-music" rel="nofollow - http://mrvandenheuvelmusic.wixsite.com/mvdh-music . It seems to have not been updated for a good while though, and there doesn't seem to be a purchase link for the CD on it  - just a pre-order button that leads only to a band picture. Will try and find out more...

Messaged Mike via his personal facebook page three weeks ago, but received no reply. This project certainly existed, an album was produced in limited numbers via crowdfunding, and subsequently sent out to those who pledged their support, but now it seems to have been completely abandoned for whatever reason. The only source of the album from now on as far as I can see will be eBay, since it is not available for download on any of the usual digital platforms.

It's down to you metal guys now as to whether to complete the evaluation or not, but looking at the progfreak previous history, I sense that the end result will be rejection anyway, since three of the team have already voted no based on the samples posted in this thread.
