Maybe my single favorite Rush tune, and I love Rush in general, while for Dream Theater I've never been able to muster more than "Nnnngh, they're okay," so it was an easy choice for me. |

My catch 22: I don't like Rush (in general) but I like that album. I like Dream Theater (not a fan anymore though) but I don't like Octavarium except for that song. ------------- Classical music isn't dead, it's more alive than it's ever been. | Octavarium very easily. Hemispheres is good, but I really love Octavarium. From Rush, I the only one that could come close to Octavarium for me would be 2112... and even so I think Octavarium would take it by a thin margin. |

I feel like you and I would get along well  .As someone that has played progressive metal for years, it boggled me how DT never clicked for me. I have to go with Rush for this one, though Octavarium is the best thing I’ve heard from DT. As a digression ; there was a DT album with, apparently, a real PITA producer named David Prater. I wonder, surely must be the same David Prater who drummed on Nektar’s Man In The Moon album (1980) ? Decent drummer, whomever. |

At least one publicly available bio suggests yes - DP the producer was a "drummer for hire"earlier in his career, also recording with Santana.
