These are probably Genesis's most notable and popular Gabriel-era albums.

My favorite albums by Genesis are SEPTP followed by Foxtrot, and then TLLDOB. These are all Gabriel-era, but then I like the 70s Genesis more - as amazing as the Collins-era Genesis happened to be.

Genesis is one of the greatest prog bands of all time, and this forum goes crazy for them. They're personally my favorite prog band after Pink Floyd. This is most likely going to be a really hard choice...

So, I ask, which of the two do you prefer? :)

SEBTP, despite the awful Battle of Epping Forest:)

I wouldn't consider either to be masterpieces but they're both fine albums. Selling England gets the edge for its superior instrumental passages, though.

when i was a kid a doller was worth ten dollers - now a doller couldnt even buy you fifty cents

Selling England for me too, my favourite album from Genesis... also despite Battle of Epping Forest. Actually, I would have voted for Selling England over The Wall, comparing this poll to the Floyd vs Genesis one... though I understand perfectly why it was against The Wall.

Both great on my book. I'll go with The Lamb today, but might change tomorrow. Two of my all time favorite albums.

Selling.
I skip at least half of the Lamb now, I only skip Battle in Selling.

The Lamb. Nursery Cryme and Foxtrot are better than SEBTP as well.

Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

It's almost exactly the opposite for me... it's SEBTP, Foxtrot, Lamb, and then Nursery Cryme...

I never understood how people rate SEBTP above Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot and (of course TLLDOB.) It's a fine record but The Lamb is perfection. It is, in fact, my second favorite album ever (just behind Tales From Topographic Oceans.)

As a casual Genesis fan I voted for "Lamb".

The Lamb. It has darkness. It has narrative and continuity. It has more odd instrumental stuff. It has more bite. It's the best album ever.

Lots of Hackett; Supernatural Anesthetist, the lead in Anyway, and the lead in The Lamia are some of the most precious things to me. Also, what is The Waiting Room without the wailing guitar? The third side alone (my favorite side) spotlights more guitar than all of SEBTP, although Dancing with the Moonlit Knight and After the Ordeal are shear genius indeed. At the same time, not much guitar on Cinema Show other than some rhythm guitar that I believe Rutherford played.

easy vote..

one has the Cinema Show. best thing Genesis in their prog incarnation..  and almost as good as the best 10 or 15 best songs from Yes. LOL

the other has nothing noteworthy.... well....but for a concept that ranks among the worst in prog.. and THAT my friends.. is saying something

most overated album on this site...
