Yesterday was the day I've been waiting for, for a very long time. A day of seeing one of my all-time favorite musicians and musicologists perform. The concert took place at the Polish Radio Concert Studio and the whole set lasted about one hour and fifteen minutes. Let me say this: the set really confirmed to me that Fred Frith is a musical guru, who seems to have gained amazing practical knowledge of an incredibly wide and eclectic plethora of styles. I could hear elements of meditative Indian classical music, free-jazz, Wagnerian charm, Americana, ambient, drone - everything kept in an experimental New York Downtown spirit. The performance consisted of three lengthy (approximately 20 minute) pieces and one shorter (about 7 minute) encore. After the concert, being one of the last to leave the concert hall, I saw the whole trio walk up the stairs. Fred noticed I had my copy of LegEnd in my hand and looked at me in a very friendly way mumbling something like "what have we got there?" I came up to him and told him what an amazing experience the concert was and also how his performance on "Teenbeat Reprise" from the very record I held in my hand had changed my life. He was very kind and charming. I asked him if he could sign the record for me and he said something like "folllow me." Imagine the looks I got following the God himself through the crowd to the table where he signed my disc. All in all, this was a phenomenal adventure and I highly recommend going to see Fred Frith play live if you ever get a chance. Damn, what an experience that must have been! It's always great to see somebody's passions pay off so well. Thanks for sharing; my day just brightened a little.

I'm glad it did.  Here are a few more pictures of the band members my mom managed to take after the concert. This time, of incomparably better quality.

What a great experience; thanks for sharing. My friend 'claimed' Fred Frith offered to buy him a cup of tea when I first saw the Cow back in 77. I sort of believe it now!

It's great to be able to meet a musician you admire! I really like the stuff Arto Lindsay does on the video you attached - sounds very original and organic.
Sounds very probable! Fred is a very kind, warm, and intelligent soul - you can feel that even without exchanging a word with him.
Haha. That's something I really appreciate, too. I feel it makes the listener-musician connection of live shows even more intense. Here are two little parts of the concert I filmed, if anyone is interested. I know, they are not very long and there is not a lot going on in the longer one, but I was really interested in the color Fred was playing with. I got to see him in Atlanta when he was doing the Skeleton Crew thing. They did one show of album material and did a second show of improv. ------------- Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

The two Skeleton Crew albums are out on CD as a duo. I highly recommend them. I have more than a few of his album but I prefer his mid '80's stuff. FYI there is another band called Skeleton Crew. You want the combo of Learn To Talk and Country Of The Blinds. ------------- Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...
