If it's *best* of the worst, I'd have to go with Tormato; Abacab and Union close behind

Indeed.
The "other" category is pretty nonsensical here... there are lots of good albums but they're not part of "the worst" then, at least not for the voter.

Haven't actually heard Three of A Perfect Pair, though I doubt that it belongs in the ranks of most of these, but from the ones I do know I actually consider Tormato to be pretty good (just terribly produced).

I really like most of these, believe or not, so I'm having a hard time picking one. Maybe Crest of a Knave, an album I really like (lots of guitar and quite bluesy), though Tormato, 3 of a Perfect Pair, Momentary Lapse, are all good albums for me.

A Momentary Lapse of Reason is an EXCELLENT album.

Dogs of War
Learning to Fly
On the Turning Away

Are three of the best PF songs ever.

I may be biased as Three of a Perfect Pair was the first KC album I ever bought (on cassette tape as a teenager in the eighties) and it turned me on to the band, but I like it a great deal. Nothing else on the list holds any interest for me really.

ELP's Works Vol. 2; OK, a bit of a rag-bag but contains two of their best but over-looked instrumentals 'Apple Blossom' and 'Bullfrog' (which sees them in jazz fusion/avant garde territory and not a million miles away from Shamal era Gong) - I even like the jazzed-up 'Show me the way to go home'.  It's eclectic nature does not sit easily with prog purists.

Have to give it to Hold Your Fire for this one.

I don't understand the hate for Earthbound. The sound quality is not the best, but it's still classic King Crimson.

Not so sure about "Dogs of War" and "Learning to Fly" (though I do like them, specially "Dogs of War"), but "On the Turning Away" is indeed among my favourite songs from the band... from this album I would add "Yet Another Movie" as a standout track for me... but mostly because of the live version.

Doubt. Tomato was an ill conceived concept from the start. A little too sugary in places which defeats the album as a whole. Long live Crimso's 'Pair.

And so does the lion's share of Rush music since Grace Under Pressure. It sucks fantast-suck loads of suckiness to the point of suck-ly suck-hood in all its suck-dom.

The Gunner's Dream
Two Suns In The Sunset

The Final Cut is bad on a Pink Floyd standard, but it's not a bad album.

I like Union, too.

Jethro Tull - Under Wraps. I actually like this album. I like the cloak and dagger themes. If you have read cold war thriller novels then you will get more out of this album. I think that I read somewhere that Martin Barre cited it as his favourite Tull album.

Tormato by a hair over Abacab...

Silent WIngs of Freedom wins this poll of generally lame albums... no album in the poll had anything that ruled quite like that on par with the best they ever did.

I expect you have some waterproof (or rather, beerproof) monitor, given all the beer spiting it gets.

I really only tossed it in there because the sound quality is so sub par.

You're right it is. I probably should have chosen "Beat" instead. Even that one is not too bad.

No need to make excuses - most of these selections would be considered among the 'worst' overall.  Good to see the love there for Works Vol. 2 - must have been my earlier post doing the trick!Tongue

I like Under Wraps as well. You are correct, even though it is a synth-driven album, Martin Barre really loves Under Wraps. If you listen to it, Martin's guitar tone is synth-like throughout. Don't dismiss this album, it does have some really great tracks on it.

Although there's nothing wrong with The Final Cut or Abacab, I voted for Tormato - it's not nearly as bad as I once thought...

Final Cut is my fave Floyd album anyway so gets the vote.  After that, I still think Tormato, Abacab & Momentary Lapse are very good albums.  If I had to choose the best of what I really consider poor albums, it would be Earthbound.  The sound quality sucks, the horrible jazz vamps are atrocious, but that version of Schizoid Man rips Evil Smile

Giant for a Day is not bad, though I prefer Civilian(can jam out more to that one). Abacab is certainly not bad though far from my favorite Genesis album. And Tormato is absolutely not bad lol, in fact it's good.

And good ole 'Love Beach' first on every list like this lol. And judge all you want but I'll just say.. I don't hate it

Tormato - while I respect those who don't get on with it, it is still a good album in my view and is unfairly treated (generally down to the tinny production) when you consider other Yes albums outside the classics.

There are some gems there, but not so much the albums themselves, but rather some of their individual tracks. I've never found a Camel album I didn't like, so maybe award it to Single Factor, although Momentary Lapse of Reason is pretty good as well.
