I don't really have strong enough feelings in music to qualify as "hate" but if anything:

The Beatles
U2

Classical music isn't dead, it's more alive than it's ever been. It's just not on MTV.

What this forum really needed was another "overrated" thread. There's nowhere to go from here. We have reached absolute transcendence.

Recent sh*t, agreed, but you sure haven't listened to their great early work when they were a unique rock band:

I kinda feel sorry for you if you really hate all that lot, I mean not liking Led Zep is just wrong.

This is actually harder for me to think of than I thought. Most bands that I'm not a fan of I simply find uninteresting, but I wouldn't say that I hate them. There are some artists that I hate as people (namely Ted Nugent) but actually quite like their music, so I wouldn't include them either. And even most bands where I despise most of their material might have a song or two, or even a full album, that redeems them.

However, there is one that I still dislike enough to list here: Sara Bareilles, who's responsible for the two http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qi7Yh16dA0w" rel="nofollow - worst http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DHs28nGN-g" rel="nofollow - earworms to ever plague my existence.

That's just the tip of the 'Turdberg' really. Your response seems kinda odd given that we were invited to name artists we can't stand. I'm sure there are loads of artists that I adore that you cannot abide yet I wouldn't consider your opinion 'wrong' or perish the thought, an incontrovertible 'fact'Wink

Oh does everyone else like Suicide nowadays? When I saw them in the 90s there were only myself, girlfriend and one other applauding and calling out for "Frankie Teardrop" and there's a live album from the 70s where Alan's threatening to leave the stage unless the audience give him the microphone back LOL.

As an opposite (could be a new thread...) - I dig Kajagoogoo (yes, it was bound to be said) but I know, from fact, Nick Beggs aside, EVERYONE, yes, EVERYONE despises this (clever and talented) New-Wave band.

Technically, the audience wanted Alan to leave the stage LOL

Suicide was opening for Elvis Costello, whose angry reaction to the crowd's audacity eventually led to a riot. This has always been what Suicide was all about: bringing people together...  But yes, they're a very well liked group nowadays (perhaps not on a progressive website specifically), at least among cult music aficionados.

I first heard of Suicide in 1977 when my friend went to see the Clash. Suicide were supporting them too, with very similar results. One of my other friends then entered a competition in one of the music papers to win this live album - there were 50 to give away, but as fewer than 100 people wrote in, they all got one LOL.

Just the usual "their fame came out of nowhere and now they can do anything (which usually ends up sounding a whole lot like 'nothing much' to me) and still sell thousands of albums" suspects.

I don't think I "hate" any band or artist - mostly I simply have no feelings either way if I'm uninterested in their stuff.

I DO hate some albums (Loveless is a typical offender) but what really makes me snap and go all Hulk is some bands fans. For instance, Radiohead do nothing for me, but I have no strong feelings for them - most of their sheepish fans, however, are the scum of the earth to me.

Who exactly is 'everyone'?
Nickleback are doing pretty good for themselves financially yet they always get mentioned when folks talk about the worst bands ever (let's face it - they come close).
ABBA is widely considered THE best/worst band ever by equally many people.

Fair point David but for me, although I don't own a single one of their records, am objective enough to recognise ABBA made brilliant pop music while Nickleback, although millions will disagree, don't.
