Tell me what your favorite sub-genres of PA artists are, not including prog-related and proto. Partly out of curiosity, partly as an opportunity to test a data tabulating tool. I hear ya. I am the same with Indo-Raga, except for Shakti/McLaughlin which is borderline staple stuff. I just know that what I have sampled is more intriguing to me than large swaths of Neo and even Crossover. Thanks for the list.

Something like this: 1. Eclectic Prog 2. Rock Progressivo Italiano 3. Jazz Rock/Fusion 4. Symphonic Prog 5. Canterbury Scene 6. Zeuhl 7. Prog Folk 8. Psychedelic/Space Rock 9. Progressive Electronic 10. Krautrock 11. RIO/Avant-Prog 12. Indo-Prog/Raga Rock 13. Crossover Prog 14. Post Rock/Math Rock 15. Heavy Prog 16. Neo-Prog 17. Progressive Metal 18. Experimental/Post Metal 19. Tech/Extreme Metal 1-4 I'll like more often than not (though they all have their fair share of duds). Most of my all-time favourite prog albums are from these four subgenres. 5-6 I've found these two to be consistently great, and only keep them lower than the top four because I haven't heard nearly as much from them. 7-12 I am ambivalent towards, either finding them to consistently produce decent (but not excellent) music, or because they contain equal parts stunning music and complete rubbish. 13-15 I'll dislike artists in these genres more often than not, but have still found excellent music contained within them. 16 Usually trash. 17-19 I am simply not interested in delving into these at this point in time. ------------- when i was a kid a doller was worth ten dollers - now a doller couldnt even buy you fifty cents |

Indo-Prog/Raga Rock 1. Probably the single largest part of my collection and my go to most often 2. Small but perfectly formed group, top bands have a selection of excellent albums 3-6. Regularly explore, little trouble finding good interesting stuff. Old bands tend to be core bands for me, still lots of good new stuff coming in these too. 7-10. More patchy, like the good stuff a lot but a lot of stuff is not for me. 11-14. Pick and choose selected bands, keep exploring but finding stuff for me tougher 15-17. Like the instrumental or avant stuff but most of it is a turn off. 18. Probably only found 5 or 6 albums I like, rarely even check any more due to constant disappointment. 19.
