I like and respect both eras and i haile the entire carear of Vox wether its Foxx vox or Ure vox. Be it exclamation mark Vox or non-! Vox. I listen to them alot now and they slowly rises to a top 11 band for me. Love the theatrical elements and hints of symphonic piano elements. The piano player in Ultravox is tremendously great and plays so elegantly those melodies. Wonderful chors and progressions all over the template. Powerfull vocals, punky bass lines phat tone on the base as well. Both distinct, full and warm bass. The guitar tone is of another world. I love the soaring guitar and the guitarist has perfect controll on every squeel. Some way Ultravox remeinds me of Saga and some other Nei progressive acts like Marillion. Also along with Japan, the Cure - bands whom sucessfully blends new wave with post punk. Some of the elements of Ultravox is both gothic, romantic, flamboyant, epic and rousing. Hope to hear from more fans of this band -------------

I love Ultravox myself. The first debut is an absolute masterpiece of post-punk and their synthpop stuff that came later is some of the best that genre had to offer. Very cool band. Like you, i'm a fan of both phases -------------  https://rateyourmusic.com/~siLLy_puPPy |

Quartet is my favourite album the four first songs are amazing and the rest is not far after. Reap the Wild Wind and Visions of Blue are my favourits -------------

| Yep, they don't get too much rep here on Progarchives, along with Japan (whom Sean Trane despises), they're both fantastic bands. I'd recommend The Associates' SULK (US-edition for the song 'The Associate') and give it a listen. Great sinister neo-romantisism. May like it better than ANYTHING OMD, Japan, or Ultra. |

My friend recently got Architecture and Morality in San Francisco (on our trip), and now he declares it: "The best synth album of the 80's." They're not what at all you expect, experimental as hell. Architecture and Morality title-track makes me think of Zappa, with its musique concrete elements. Gregorian chants.. Melotron.. Hmm, me like
