Born in 1960. Got to experience all of the great prog of the late 60s and early 70s in real time on vinyl. Been playing guitar since I was 13. After hearing Caress of Steel I became a Rush nut. Found a drummer and bassist who were also Rush nuts and formed a band. Played pro from 1978 to 1981 (disco killed our band). At one time or another we played:

Bastille Day
All the Worlds a Stage version of 2112
The Trees
La Villa Strangiato
Passage to Bangkok
Circumstances
Xanadu
Cygnus X1

Big fan of some of the more recent prog like:

The Flower Kings
Spock's Beard
Everything by Steven Wilson
Opeth
Glass Hammer
Enchant
Marillion
The Mars Volta
Riverside
Scale The Summit
Storm Corrosion
Transatlantic
Animals as Leaders

Hoping to have some fun and great discussions here.

I had an original "space metal" power-trio in the mid and late 70s in So. Cal., played a lot of backyard parties in West Covina.

And Rush was one of our early influences.

The best band around at the time was a band named "Sky People," they had a very hard edge and a synth player.

And they were just everywhere, the valley, Hollywood, dominated for awhile there.

Did you ever see them @Chula Vista ?

Thx
