When the Beatles went into the studio to record Sgt. Pepper's they wanted to make an album as good as Pet Sounds. I don't think they quite succeeded. Well, I think they succeeded alright because Brian Wilson had a mental breakdown trying to match/outdo Revolver in his next album, Smile.

If Tomorrow Never Knows came out today, it would still sound fresh and even progressive (in its truest sense). Genius piece of music. Ringo totally smashes it (he didn't do it that often). The rest of Revolver is easily good enough to win this. |

I absolutely adore bits and pieces off Pet Sounds but I think I respect the album more than I actually like it. I certainly don't play it very often. It also sounds terribly dated to these ears whereas Revolver remains fresh as ever - hell it could be a recent Tame Impala release. ------------- “The Guide says there is an art to flying or rather a knack.
