I showed Old Mother Orvis some love. She's a real banger!

I'm not familiar with half of these, but from the ones I do know I'll go with Knifeworld, I agree it's their best album.

Of the ones I know, Guapo, but many great albums are missing from this list.

I voted for Cheer-Accident although the correct answer is Neal Morse's Sola Scriptura.

Great poll. I knew only three of these but gave all the others 10 minutes each, with the result that I'm going to buy Thinking Plague, Schnellertollermeier and Nik Bartsch Ronin (none of which has votes as of now).

I really like the Guapo and Knifeworld albums (Sleepytime Gorilla Museum is supercool half the time and annoy me the other half) but they were beaten by three new finds.

The winner is Thinking Plague.

Excellent, glad you enjoyed them, Schnellertollermeier have just released a new one, Right, that's even more bonkers than X.

I don't listen to most of these bands/albums yet, but really love The Future Kings of England. Amazing stuff, all of their records!

Though I know (own) all of these but the last two (Schnellertollermeier and Ronin), I find it quite challenging to cast a vote. They're all so interesting, idiosyncratic, and inventive but do not, in my opinion, stand above other albums of their own nor of other bands' releases. For example, I enjoy other Guapo, Future Kings, Sleepytime Gorilla, Knifeworld, Guapo, Cheer-Accident, and Thinking Plague albums as much as if not more than the ones offered. So ... sorry!

Five albums I haven't heard here. Admittedly I'm not as curious to check out just about any new/unknown prog album/act as I once was. Among the ones I do know my favorite is undoubtedly Guapo but no vote just yet. I mean Schnellertollermeier is an intriguing band name and so is Vezhlivy Otkaz + Pikapika Teart

Actually, perhaps one of the best prog albums of this century was released by a non-prog band, The Decemberists. The Hazards of Love had the musicality, lyricism and song quality and character that I appreciate most in a well-made prog album. It hearkened back to some of the better prog albums of the 70s as far as creativity.

A great album though I slightly prefer The Crane Wife, pretty disappointed with the direction of the last 2 albums.

The Future Kings of England. It's so Floyd circa Meddle-era. It's my favorite album by them. Kings of England, I mean:)

"You can not vote in this poll"

This is what I see when I open this thread. And actually any other polls. I don't know why I'm less equal than other animals in this farm ErmmStern Smile Maybe because my avatar is not proggy enough? LOL
The list so far is very interesting in the way I've never heard of a good half of the bands over there, save for listening to them!
Is this list for avant-garde and related genres only? If so, what Knifeworld - The Unravelling is in there? It sounds pretty mainstream-friendly to me, although it definitely has its share of craziness.

I believe you need 40 posts/points to vote in threads. Stops people from making multiple accounts to skew polls.

It's not deliberately avant, it's just a list of my personal favorites from the century. I tend to like a lot of avant so they are the majority, The Future Kings Of England aren't avant either.
