Two bands which evolved in oppesite directions. Talk Talk started in a comercial vain and went into something else and experimental, the Verve started out very experimental on their two first album and navigated to more chart friendly teritory, yet both bands had artistic seriousness always held high. Two highly exentric band leaders in both bands whom faded out into obscurity and normal life. Both delivered 5 albums before they said stop.

Yeah, The Verve was OK I guess but Talk Talk recorded two of the best albums ever.

Soldato of the Pan Head Mafia. We'll make you an offer you can't listen to.

I love Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock, but the Verve recorded A Storm In Heaven, one of my absolute favorite albums, so Verve.

Easy one. It's Talk Talk (and I like The Verve).

"Larks' tongues. Wrens' livers. Chaffinch brains. Jaguars' earlobes. Wolf nipple chips. Get 'em while they're hot. They're lovely. Dromedary pretzels, only half a denar."

Radiohead are maybe the most famous example of a band starting out "normal" then going experimental. The weirdest and most unusual thing being their experimental stuff is what made them famous.

I don't know these two bands that well though.

Bitter Sweet Symphony is Whiter Shade of Pale of the 90s in the way that it merges classical theme with the curent modern genre, in 60s it was baroque theme with psych rock, in 90s it was classical theme with alternative rock

I really like their grand album Urban Hymn, its a masterpiece of alternative, tripy shoegaze and dare i say experimental bits.
