Janis Joplin is the better artist but I've had a crush on Stevie Nicks since I was little Embarrassed. I still spin every Fleetwood Mac albums, Bella Donna and The Wild Heart on occasion.

I love Janis dearly but gotta give it to Stevie for songwriting talent and prolificity.   One of the few true survivors of rock.

What about them? Who would we rather see in porn? Well, both of course. And together. Whose one winged dove is gonna take a little piece of whose heart, baby?

Joplin by far.

well, I'm a Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac fan, I rarely listen to the albums with Nicks. Yes, she's a great singer, no doubt about that, but the line up albums with her and Buckingham get little attention from me.

Janis Joplin is niks1 (imho of course). I may like her as a person, but I don't have any liking for her music. One more vote for Stevie.

1 Niks means "nothing" in the informal version of my native language.

I much prefer Nicks' voice.

the question in the poll and first post is very vague. What am I supposed to look at, vocal skill, overall music, the way they look?

I judged the overall music, that's why Joplin got my vote.

Never liked Nicks time Fleetwood, but just saw her in Tom Petty´s gig and she sounded (and looked) really good. But it´s Janis to me.

Personally prefer Stevie to Janis - but that's just the style I like better. In terms of importance and legacy, Janis is way out in front.

Janis all the way. I would describe Stevie Nicks' voice as "harmless". Janis on the other hand had expression and soul.

Guess I just don't like her soul or expression then. I'd prefer almost any vocalist over Janis - including Stevie Nicks.

^ back in the 90s, I had a live album of Joplin on cassettes and the live songs were amazing. Like Friede said, very expressive and soulful.

Friede and I have been together for almost 25 years now, so I know that "harmless" is about the worst insult in her repertoire. so you can probably guess her opinion on "Barclay James Harmless" Wink
