two songs with impecable production, detailed drums, well structured heavy progressive songs. Songs to headbang to and to play air guitar with.

Kansas. I can't stand the cheesy synth one-fingered by Geddy.

Kansas of course. Not that Tom Sawyer is not good, but COWS is quite a beautiful piece.

I won't vote for one over the other. I love both songs, both bands.

Tough choice as both are excellent songs ......hmm......went with Kansas....I like them a bit more than Rush overall.

Both classics - quite a good poll, this one! Tom Sawyer has to shade it, as it has a higher air guitar, air drum, air bass factor! You can even do the synth bit with one figure whilst doing the washing up!

Wayward Son, such a great song for the masses to hear nice time signature changes and a different instrument than usual.  Like Sawyer, but not quite as much.

I like Kansas, but I really don't like this particular song of theirs. Something too gleeful about it, like a Triumph song or something. It just makes me cringe. So, yeah, I voted for Tom Sawyer.

No vote here. Both songs are quite good but both bands have much better songs. If there is Jacob's Ladder in place of Tom Sawyer I'd vote for it without hesitation.

Two classics. I'll go with Tom Sawyer. More quirky and it's among my favourit Rush songs.

COWS is a great rock tune though. Classic riffs and wonderful changes.

Tom for me...great lead synth sound, a bizarre solo from Alex, and fantastic drumming.  COWS, like most of Kansas output (with some excellent exceptions) was never more than garden variety stadium rock to my ears Wink

Carry On'. Have heard both enough to lose my lunch, but 'Sawyer even more so. Greatly enjoy Peart's drumming on the thing, though.

Both great but COWS is just amazing. Great changes and an a capella intro...

Interesting that these songs are competing against each other in a poll. Former Journey manager Herbie Herbert has claimed in many interviews that the music for BOTH were stolen from very early Journey songs. Allegedly, Tom Sawyer was taken from "Nickel and Dime" (1977's Next), and "Carry On Wayward Son" was taken from "I'm Gonna Leave You" (1976's Look into the Future).

Tom Sawyer made me a massive Rush fan. The synth and drums are gorgeous especially!
