My favorite albums by 5 awesome bands, each in the PA database, and each starting with "D". They are also all very different from each other.

Al Di Meola for sure. The others are also quite good.

Personally, my vote goes to Dead Can Dance. Unfolded Liked Staircase and Elegant Gypsy are awesome albums, but I don't think that they are significantly better than the rest of them. Anyway, that is why we have polls; maybe the results will change over time.

Al and his friend Paco de Lucia. The other choices aren't in the same league.

First vote for the third Delirium album!! For me, it's a perfect album, full of expressive moods. Like any great Italian album. None of these other choices are in the same league for me. Al Di's album is great, but doesn't have a full concept surrounding it. The soft flute and deadly sax opening the album. The heavy rain ending the album (Ancora Un'Alba). The delivery on Battaglia..

Without a doubt, it's when everything came together for Delirium. The funk, the symphonic elements, the Graaf-gruff saxes.. Easiest choice for me.

I agree that it is a great album. I was just listening to it last night, for the first time in a while, and noting many great elements along the way.

Al di Meola, but also Deluge Grander, Different Light, may be even Dream Theater...

just like PA's... teh herd mentality runs rampant... 2 best albums both have 1 vote.  Figures...

tempted to give it to Delirium but think their 2nd album was better... so giving it to the class of the bunch.

The album that elicted so many WTF's when so many of us were exposed to it for the first time at Nearfest.

Butcher's Ballroom... albums like that... complete out of left field WTF'rs.. is a large part of what keeps up still interested in this music. It sure as hell is not for the same old sh*t stylistically.. regardless of how well it is played... heard it all before man.
