Oh yeah! Whatever can be labeled "dark weird psych," I love.

There is a virtually unknown Canadian group called Zacht Automaat, wchich I rave about all the time here. To be frank, they are possibly one of my favorite bands of all time. Their album I Can Feel the Mold in Me (dead slow, no wake) fits what you are looking for perfectly. Loads of krautrock and kosmische influences, but it also has that 70's experimental psychological crime thriller kind of vibe to it. Hearing it for the first time was a near-psychedelic experience for me. As It Is Spoken, It Shall Be Done is also one of their darker works.

Another favorite of mine is Edge of Time by a short-lived German outfit Dom. It is allegedly a musical illustration of a psychedelic bad trip and at times it is very dark. Very beautiful, though. I recommend you listen to the whole thing when it's dark with lights turned off. Amazing album.

Wulf Zendik's album Zendik is another extremely weird (and dark) experimental psychedelic rock album with some Eastern influences, if I recall correctly. I've heard it only once in its entirety, though, and it was a while ago, so that's all I can really say about it.

And last, but not least, Brast Burn! This extremely obscure Japanese outfit released only one record during their existence, Debon, which once again takes the three adjectives - dark, weird and psychedelic - to the extremes. If you like this one, you can definitely also try Karuna Khyal's only release Alomoni 1985, which, if I understand correctly, was recorded by an artist, who played in Brast Burn. That one is even more "insane" than Debon.

And well, obviously early Pink Floyd.

ah yes, very dark indeed, especially the song "Dem Guten, Schönen, Wahren" (provided you understand the German lyrics)

Some great picks above - I love that Brast Burn album.

For a modern band I'd highly recommend Un Festin Sagital from Chile:

Can't get enough of this stuff. A shame much of their material hasn't made it to CD.

Soldato of the Pan Head Mafia. We'll make you an offer you can't listen to.
