In honor of Super Bowl LII, one band from each city.

Echolyn. The album "mei" is just great. Never been a huge fan of Bent Knee. Might be because of its highly eclectic sound.

I have to vote for the mighty Echolyn.  Bent Knee are really good, but Echolyn are one of my favorite modern prog bands.

just like the Super Bowl... and BIG meh on either group...  I'll give it to Echolen.. not that I really like them all them much... they just aren't as fawned over as Bent Knee which have completely underwhelmed me.. studio and live.

Brillant idea. There's also Birdsongs of the Mesozoic (Boston)or the Red Masque(Philadelphia). Anyway, being that I live half a mile from the Philly border of course I'll vote for Echolyn. As a side note Echolyn are actually from the burbs technically speaking but I guess that's being somewhat pedatic. ;)

Echolyn by a small margin, but I'd rather listen to either of them than watch an American football game.

In fact, I'd probably rather stick needles in my eyes if that didn't stop me watching the wonderful 6 Nations.

Philadelphia is also home to the wonderful iNFiNiEN, who last year made a splash at ProgDay. They can easily appeal to a wide cross-section of the prog audience, and are a bunch of very nice people to boot. All of their albums are available for streaming (and buying) on Bandcamp. Much more interesting, in my view, than the overrated and overwrought Bent Knee, whose latest album I found rather underwhelming.

Wow, I had heard of this band but I didn't know they were from Philly. I didn't know Espers were either actually.

I'm wondering who else is from Boston though. I know Schooltree are but who else?

Echolyn easy. Great band, and Brett Kull's latest solo album is in my head right now too.

I like Bent Knee but I haven't fallen for them. I like their second album best, and they've diminished on each subsequent.

Echolyn is credited with one of the best albums of the 21st century so far (their self-titled 2012 album).

Other than a song or two here and there, I have never been able to get into/enjoy Echolyn--and Lorde! I've tried! Whereas I mirror the common sentiment that BK has not lived up to the standard that their second album set, they still rate as a band I would much rather see and/or listen to than the right honorable representative from Philadelphia.

To Micky and Raff: I think I'd even choose BK over the wonderful Espers and Infinien. Shiny Eyed Babies is, without question, one of the top five best albums I've ever heard in my life!
