Also, please comment the song you used for your vote. If you want to, list your top 5/10 GG songs if you cant choose 1 favorite.

"In a Glass House" is my favorite song by them.

I'll get crucified for this on here but my favorite GG song is probably I Am a Camera from Civilian. This past Monday I was on the elliptical(listening to Civilian), and when that song came on.. I basically went crazy lol. Got the biggest 'runners high' EVER.

Edit: I see that album isn't one of the choices. Oh well, have to be a 'write in' vote I guess.

Hmmm...one favorite...that's going to be tough...Here's a list of my faves from each album:

Gentle Giant: Alucard
Acquiring: The Moon is Down
3 Friends: Title track
Octopus: A Cry for Everyone
In a Glass House: tie between the title track & A Reunion
Power: No God's a Man
Free Hand: His Last Voyage
Interview: Design
Missing Piece: For Nobody

Narrowed down to 1...I'll have to go with The Moon is Down so Acquiring get's my vote Wink

Interesting question. My favorite GG song is Give it Back, from Interview. But that’s by no means my fav GG album.

It's not fair. My favorite song is Shadows on the Street, and it's on Civilian :D

But I choose Free Hand, because the other 5 favorite songs are on that album.

This is torture. I’m thinking my fave tune is Giant , from the debut. One of the few, erratic songs in can play on bass !!

  1. Memories of Old Days
    His Last Voyage
  2.
  3. Raconteur, Troubadour
  4. On Reflection
  5. Wreck
Since one of my two favourites is on The Missing Piece, voting is quite easy: Free Hand.

Hard to choose, since I love GG's music. I'll have to think hard before I can single out a particular song.

My favorite "Playing the Game" from The Power and the Glory.  My second favorite is "Inside Out" from Civilian.  An album which surprisingly did not make the list.

Agreed. More or less. Prologue+Schooldays... You simply don't find music sounding like that anywhere else (closest I can think of are some of Grachan Moncur III's early to mid-60's avantgarde-jazz compositions) and in many ways why I still listen to prog.

I'm sorry I didn't include Civilian YESISIS. I don't hear people on ProgArchives talking about that album, so I didn't include it. Now I see I should've have included all the Gentle Giant studio albums. I'm sorry, but thanks for commenting still!

I'm sorry I didn't include The Missing Piece. Most people on ProgArchives don't talk about that album, so I thought it was not liked by prog fans (even though that album is by a prog band). Now I see I should've have included all the Gentle Giant studio albums. I can't add new entries to the poll question, but thanks for commenting still!

Sorry about that. That album not being on Spotify or iTunes is part of the reason why it was not included. Another part of it is the fact that that album has been criticized for not being prog enough here on PA, and GG is said to have gone down a lot in quality after Interview. That's why the last album chronologically in this poll is Interview.

It's completely understandable. You made the choice you felt was right, and no doubt many on here agree with you. Good poll really. A big part of the problem with me is that I usually listen to this band when I'm meditating(aside from Civilian while exercising lol), and so my eyes are closed and I honestly don't know what most of the songs are called. Like when there are threads asking what's your favorite song on a certain album.. I have to go back and listen to a little of each song to see what titles go with what songs.
