A recent post brought into discussion (again) the true nature and parameters of the subgenre called "Canterbury Scene" here on PA. I have long rejected this moniker for an alternative that I call "Canterbury Style" so as to allow for the inclusion of any band inspired to emulate or imitate the sound(s) produced by those early jazz-rock experimentalists--a handful of whom may have hailed from or played in Canterbury, Kent, England.

Italian band PICCHIO DAL POZZO released an album in 1976 that, for me, captures and epitomizes all that is best about the Canterbury Style--in fact, my second favorite Canterbury Style album of all-time. If you are unfamiliar with the album, this is your chance! Check it out and choose your favorite song. (I'd upload the link to the album but that has never worked for me and my archaic Apple/Mac-based computer system.)

I remember listening to this album back in 1976. My friend got it and we enjoyed it a lot. I'll have to go back and listen to it again, to be able to choose a song. Thanks for reminding me of this great piece of music.

Cocomelastico is definitely my favorite track. I remember I liked it at first listen already.

Love the whole album, but taken as a stand-alone track, then "Seppia" for me too.

There was a time when I was really obsessed with this album. I was glad to see this poll, as it got me to dig out and listen to the album again. I hadn't listened to it in some years.

I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.
