"I'm a dinosaur,
I'm not a rock star" (sung to the the tune of David Bowie's "Blackstar")

I imagine that King Crimson will take this quite easily, but doing this poll for fun (stepped on my son's plastic dinosaur and it got me thinking about this -- yeah, deep thoughts). Perhaps someone will dig some of these bones.
I had only known the King Crimson and the Cardiacs (an unusually restrained one by them) before now.

If you have another "Dinosaur" song by an act in ProgArchives, feel free to post it. T. Rex is pretty cool, by the way. In fact, all tangents are welcome.

Dinosaur Jr, of course.

With that tangent out of the way, I'm considering either giving Cardiacs the nod, or all the bones at once.

^ Interesting you mention Dinosaur Jr., I was thinking Bowie did a dinosaur song, and when searching google while preparing this, the first result was Dinosaur Jr.'s cover of Bowie's "Quicksand".

Erm, on reflection, that's not interesting at all.

you all really are some strange folks here....  the first thing I would have thought of is... OUCH!!!!  not the basis of a prog poll here.

K.C. obviously.. one of my favorites actually from that incarnation of the group.

I just grit my teeth and think of Prog polls like real men do. The other day I nearly stepped in some sh*t which got me thinking.... I would have made a poll, but there was too much sh*t to choose from.

Not going with the Pallas? It's got a young skinny shirtless young singer, various sweaty Neo Prog beefcakes, and a keytar (the most manly instrument ever). Total rock stars. Then there's the Hogarth video.... But hey, whatever floats your boat.

The KC for me too methinks. I like the Cardiacs a lot and that was the first song I thought of, but it's not one of their more dynamic songs (I do like it quite a lot in the context of Song For Ships and Irons though). None of these are particular favourites of mine to be honest.

King Crimson's Dinosaur is so good, not even the Cardiacs can dig that.

Yep, it's actually an easy choice for me. Now if the KC was up against Big Ship from the same compilation album as Stoneage Dinosaurs, Cardiacs would take this one for me.
